I've been reading the forum on/off for about 18 months. I registered once before but it was on my iPad and weird things happened and like a vaccination that does not take, the system did not register me. That was a year ago and I finally got around to trying again on a machine that has a keyboard... it worked.
I'm registered as RayBurne but that is my pseudonym; I sometimes write and my name is just too darn long... But you can call me Ray.
I'm in Atlanta, Georgia and I'm an old fart, now retired from Corporate. Since I have more time for myself, I decided to rekindle my love for lasers and the physics surrounding these marvelous machines; I read my first article on lasers when I was 13: the 1964 Popular Science article on building a homemade ruby laser. I never build it on my 50-cent allowance, but I was endeared to the technology and would often read about the science of lasers through the years. My college work was in EE but I also have a general love of science.
So, today I took the plunge and registered because I wanted to buy one of Jerry's LaserBee's USB units to go with my HLPM II optical sensor since I have 3 units that exceed the little PM. Jerry is very supportive of the forum members and provides great deals, so becoming a member was just the right thing to do. I'll try and be a good member, having read the rules before doing any posting.
Besides enjoying experimenting with lasers and optics, I am also interested in electronics, computer programming, computer hardware, and photography (all digital these days but once upon a time, I did all my own darkroom work.)
It's nice to be here. My inventory:
1 - one wicked lasers arctic spyder 1W (760mw) 445nm (blue)
2 - two O-Like 532nm 50mw (green)
3 - one O-Like 808nm 220mw (IR)
4 - one O-Like 650nm 200mw (red)
5 - one O-Like 405nm 50mw (Blue-Ray)
6 - bunches of < 5mw red pointers
