Red laser question

Because green is "too powerful" says my friends that airsoft with me. Even the reflection off of a white paper is too bright for them. So im getting 635 red 5mW. So even if it accidently hits someone in the eye, their blink will cause damage not enough to blind them or damage permanently. Wow i actually typed that? I have no idea how i did it:confused:

Green lasers may appear brighter than higher powered red, but with the same power they won't damage your eyes any more than red. It's like when you look at a 100mW green dot on a wall and a 200mW red one. The green will look much brighter, but the red will be more painful to look at.
If you think a green laser will damage your eyes more than red just because it looks brighter, that would mean that a infra red laser wouldn't damage your eyes at all because you can't see it which isn't true, it will do the same damage as any other wavelength with the same power. It would be even worse because since you can't see it, it would cause no blink effect.
Like Hallucynogenyc said: "you'll see the green one faster than the red one, so you'll probably blink faster and in consequence, get a shorter exposure with a green one."

If somebody hit me in the eye(s) with 5mW of anything, they would be short 2 or more teeth..

Dont use cheap China nothing for you purpose.. Aside from the IR leakage there is no way of knowing what your output really is.

Buy this >BTG-6 Chrome & Brass Green Laser from Z-Bolt® 2 Mile Range, Gun Metal Case

They are IR filtered and under 3mW 2.8mW IIRC. You have a nice host after for a burner, and a safe(er) laser in case you dose somebody's retina..

40$, you must be kidding me xd

Z-Bolt also has a 1mW green. It will be brighter than the 6-7mW 635nm, or as bright, and will be easier to detect.
FDA Safety Class II Green Laser - Legal UK, Australia, European Union

If you plan on mounting this to an airsoft gun, you will need something with a constant on switch or a pressure pad.

This may be a good option for you:
BTE-4S, Highest Power Red Laser Pointer - Constant On Switch, Foam Case, 635 nm
and
Telescope Remote Switch for Z-bolt&reg Green Laser Star Pointers, Star Finders

Its not a down payment... :tired:

All I know is if one of my kids ended up with damage to their eyes because some moron flashed them with an FDA non compliant laser device, there would be hell to pay.

If you want to be cheap, then dont mount it to a toy gun possibly injuring people to save a few bucks.

I thought this forum promoted safe use? By spending an extra 25$, he gets a nice chrome host and a module that is safe.

Rather than griping about price, perhaps point the OP in the right direction...
