This was a red build that I just finished. It is a cross between Kenoms Teenie burner and the Lowes keychain light Jayrob uses in his blu-ray build.

It is a red 16X diode ran off of 3 lr44 button batteries like in the teenie burner. On a fresh set of cells it will light sharpied matches and should be in the neighborhood of 120mw. And according to Kenom, if you use a 10180 li-ion battery it will run around 200mw. I have not tried this yet, because that particular battery is out of stock.

hey it looks like your beam is coming out a bit crooked i've done that a few times  didn't get diode in correctly  :'(

Yeah your diode is pressed in at a angle. Kinda screwed now because i would not risk De/soldering the diode.

You guys are funny how you speculate. :) It's just the way I shot the pic to try to show the beam on my couch. The diode is as straight as anyone else could get it... Just because I am new to the forum, doesn't mean I am new to lasers, electronics, and making sure things are straight..  

I will go take a beam shot outside now that its dark..

Just like the teenie burner, it is driven directly off the button cells. the current is limited by the cells, due to their low discharge capabilities. They are only pushing the diode to approx. 120ma, so I think it's safe.

If you guys are referring to this pic. That is not the beam at the 4:00 position. it's just some reflection on my camera lens.

Beam shots to prove I was not drunk when I pressed the diode are up a couple posts.

oh if it had a flexdriver in it i would of bough it....ill stick with building my own 8-)

Well, the aixiz head is screwed into the drilled out head of the brass host, so there is plenty of heat sink. And the fact that the laser is only running at approx. 120mw. I would say the duty cycle is about as long as you want.
