No you're not blind. The new forum update took the link underlines out of the links, so they look like normal text. I have to remember to keep underlining the links. Sorry.
The diagram has one pin as ground and one as the photodiode. In my experience with these either pin can be used as a ground. Just be careful that you don't hook both dies up together. Not only will this increase the lielyhood of failure but also could output IR and well as the red, (if it's the red you're looking for). I believe I read a Mohrenberg post where he says he got 200mW out of the IR though? Do a search and I think that thread comes up and don't rely on me being correct here!
