I bought one of swims Super Overspec greenies and am nothing but pleased with it. However, the question I have is because I want it to last as long as possible I want to make sure that I am not risking anything with my power method.

I bought some 1000 mah Duracell AAAs and have been using those so far but will they do any kind of damage to it or will they be an okay power soiurce?

Thanks for any advice.
 





Rechargeable batteries are fine. They should be 1.2v each. So if anything they are better! :beer:
 
Better because its running a little less voltage and should prolong life?

I've been using those Duracell rechargeable AAA's for the past few weeks now (and ordered some more because I've got some of swim's super's coming too).
I charged a couple up yesterday but I thought I'd just 'top them up' in the charger (about 3 minutes until the light went green again) and they both registered @ 1.52v


After a 'normal' charge - ie,, stop when the light turns green and take them out the charger (Duracell charger) - they usually register at 1.4v, but if you wait a little while and put them back on charge it will push it up to 1.5v after only a few minutes :D
If you try and charge them up again straight away after the first full charge, the chargers red light starts flashing - I've no idea what that means but I guess it's not good :D

One thing that's strange about them is that I notice a fairly sharp decline in them after a day or twos use (My greenie gets considerably dimmer) but then when I put them on the charger they still register at around 3/4 a charge.

Thats normal. They need a certain voltage to work properly (not sure what the technical term is - trigger voltage?),,and if they drop below that they will practically turn themselves off. My Lazerer Rifle runs on 7.2V. I was testing the batteries last week seeing how much the voltage dropped for every minutes duty cycle, and when the overall voltage for both 16340's hit 6.2V that dimmed considerably too. Considerably is an understatement really :D
 
The first time you see it happen you think.."WHAT THE...!!!" (I did...lol),, because its pretty instant,,,you'd think it would dim more slowly.

Such a relief when you put fresh batteries in :D

I tried a pair of the Duracell 750mAh rechargeables in my Swim Super-Overspec I received tonight and they do not seem to run as bright as a fresh set of Duracell Ultras. Could just be my perception though :)

I think once the Ultras die, I will use the 750s. It will be cheaper in the long run and like Khurrle said, it should prolong the life of the laser running a bit lower voltage.
 
I notice that the beam of mine is still visible in lit conditions and borders on spectacular to anyone I show it to at night so I have no complaints about the Duracell 1000mah rechargeables.
 
I use duraloops in my generic green pen. This pen doesn't like ZnC and still doesn't work too long on alkalines.
