please can someone help me i want to build a laser from scratch but i don't know how please tell me all the parts i need and the costs roughly to build a 1w-2w laser thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you need a diode, a housing, a driver (which regulates power supply so the diode lasts for more than a few seconds), a lens and a battery

i'd suggest you just get a mostly assembled one, as you need a soldering iron and a diode press to build one yourself, and its quite difficult, especially if you cant search for information yourself and you have to make your own thread to ask questions which have been answered already, in stickied threads on the main page.

Could be wrong, but my guess is, that the guy is using the DTR´s 12x GB as thread title cause he want to purchase this diode.

Anyway phil, forget about getting 1-2W out of these. You have to look for a 445nm diode to reach this ower level. But I think you´re better adviced buying / building a much lower powered laser first.
