Re: Re: How do I set the power for the FlexDrive u

I think from now on I'm just going to tell people to "use damn the search box or GTFO" if the question is not specific or unique. It really is becoming a waste of time helping people who refuse to help themselves.

Re: Re: How do I set the power for the FlexDrive u

Yeah you go ahead and do that buddy.

This board has one of the worst searches I've used. 'Google' searches on forums are f'in useless. FWIW, I searched for almost an hour before I asked the question.

Either none of you know how to do it the way I wanted to, and refuse to admit it or else your self righteous attitudes prevent you from offering anything more detailed than "this is how you're supposed to do it, so do it this way and no other way because we're not going to help you otherwise".

If there's a reason why using a diode to test the output doesn't actually work and there's no possible way to do it, then why not explain that instead of shoving your condescending tone down my throat? I shouldn't have to apologize for having an inquisitive nature. If I don't understand something why not help me understand? I think some of you forget how to treat people that aren't at the same technical level as you.

Anyway, if this wasn't a unique question, I'd love to see one that you think is.

I know I shouldn't reply to this but what the hell...

Kloan,

Nobody in this thread has done anything except try to help you, so try to show a bit of respect. You were given the best advice you could have received, but in fact it is YOUR self righteous attitude that has led you to be so frustrated with the hobby.

For someone who readily admits that you aren't on the same technical level, you sure are stubborn in accepting our help.

"If theres a reason why using the diode doesnt work, why not explain that, blah blah" : There is a reason why it is a bad idea, and I did explain that to you, as did others in this thread.

I am sure you will take this comment the wrong way, as a personal insult, or perhaps a flame (it is none of those things, I am just presenting things to you the way I see it) but unless you change your attitude I will be quite glad to not see another post from you.

If you do change your attitude I would be happy to answer any questions about lasers that you have, as would the rest of the community here.

Re: Re: How do I set the power for the FlexDrive u

Kloan, if you had gone back to the messages you so conveniently deleted from this forum post, you'd see that they mostly comprised of "I don't want to do it properly, just give me results!" We gave you clear instructions, certainly jayrob spent a good amount of effort, but in your frustration and stubbornness you refused to even consider them.

"Either none of you know how to do it the way I wanted to."

Well gee, did you ever--even once--think that the way you "wanted to" was wrong? That maybe, just maybe, we were trying to help you avoid burning out your parts? You know, pass on some of our own experiences with doing things wrong? I can only imagine the blame and whining we would've been subjected to if our instructions resulted in your diode burning out.

It's like you demanding to know how to twist a cap off a bottle by turning it the wrong direction. Are we to "accommodate" such requests even if they're fundamentally flawed?

And what is with the "If I don't understand something why not help me understand?" now? Before it was, "I don't care about 'your way' of doing it, I don't want to redo this work! Tell me how to do it my way!" Not exactly the eager student. I never got the impression you were willing to learn something.

So kindly get your head out of your ass and get a clue about your own behavior.
