Im learning about basic electricity do i have to learn about AC electricity ? Will i have anything to do with it in laser hobby ? And i read somewhere about laser radiation and risk of cancer at high power lasers contacts skin :D is it true ?

High powered lasers will burn your skin before causing cancer. This hobby is more on the DC side but it never hurts to study AC.

No. The laser beam is the radiation itself. Remember, LASER stands for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation

AC is good to learn, i was most interested in power supply systems which convert and smooth AC to DC.

Lasers we use wont give you cancer. They can start fires, and damage sight, or burn skin.

So a 3w wont do harm except eye damagr and burn skin ??
Well technically that's the harm :p It's a weird way to ask a question.

Lasers are dangerous, no way around that. There's no "radiation" as in, gamma and particle radiation present in nuclear reactions, unless you use a nuclear reactor to power your laser.

Well UV or X-ray lasers could cause cancer .. simply because UV or X-ray do .. but such laser are not used in pointers so far ..
