While Sylvester Night is coming i think its fine to have a line or tunnel for all that smoke.  :)

Ok, I take a plastik tube which fit with some hot-water-modding, thight, on my aconsen 450mw green Handheld build.
Take my dremel and cut two windows in it.
One to put the motor in it, the other one for the switch.
Motor is from cheap mini helicopter, and runs great @ one AA.
AA is in a proper holder and enought wire to shake it out for change.
Mirror is selfmade from harddisk, an glued with 5 minute epoxy.
End cap is a chair leg cap from do-it-yourself store I have in stock.  ;)
Its for 25 mm and i have 25,5mm.
I just boil it in hot water and press it hot on the barrel.
If its cooled down the Cap fits tight but batterie will last forever i guess.
The motor is fixed with hotglue, no mercy!   ::)
Add Tripod and have fun lasing tunnels.  8-)

Ready!
Take one hour at all.

I use it at our sylvester firecracker ceremony.
Campfire with the first empty firecrackers is mandatory.  ::)

Temprature is at -8 degrees pretty cold for germany.

Laser runs 1 full hour, with only one small batteriechangebreak.
I notice an loss in brightness and change batterie, maybe its only frozen, but its ok for that high power to consume more than one 18650 under that circumstances.
If i use this laser indoor is start getting warm in under one minute, outdoor after 1 hour nothing to feel on the lasers Heatsink.

That is very neat and effective :) Nice and easy to carry around.

look's like you still have room for a small pot in there then you can vari the speed . nice job :D

Can you come out with some diagram how you construct the motor and mirror part? I am very interested in doing something like this, small and portable, neat!

Its nothing difficult just a circuit with the batterie holder and the switch in series.
I put the motor with the mirror in the tube, and shine the laser on it, when i found good position i put the heat glue on it.

Ready.

It must not look like that, different tubes and boxes are usable.

A pot, difficult needs a extra hole to drill and spezial mini pot with a knob.
And a pot and only one motor does nothing speziall i think. [smiley=undecided.gif]

you can drill the hole in like 1 min put it behind the switch . just wire it to the + out to the motor .heck i'll even send you a pot nice small one with a knob i have lot's of them it will take you 10 min's to install . it look's cool when you slow it way down :o

Just to help out posters who are not sure how this is constructed I looked out a drawing I did for a tunnel gun I never built :), it gives an idea of what is involved, I had a bit of brass tube with a screw on end cap but you could adapt any tube for the job.

A couple of notes the laser is held in place by a cable gland, same as I did on my spiro.
The motor was to be a vibromotor from a mobile phone.
Switch is a slide switch

I hope it helps

Try something like this with one static mirror. I'm going to completely rebuild this so its totally cased in. ;)

Yes cool rog,
its exactly like that, but not that detailed elaborated like rogs draw.
Because its easier to build i make this big window in it to glued the motor and align it proper.
I want it ready in that one hour. 8-)

@firemylaser
The tube concept is more appropriate to build "mobile tunnel units"
Yours is more good for fixed use.

but building is fun
and the way is the end...

@ FML, you know you don't need to hit the middle of the mirror ;) you may have just enough room to stick that motor inside the cable gland, just remember not to push the laser in too far.

This is not meant as a thread jack but if you look at this photo I have done something similar on my white laser, I drew on the beam to show how it just passes the mirror, on the real thing the bounce beam is about half way out from the middle of this mirror.

[edit]I hate you lot, I have just had to add another build to my list Grrrrrrrrrr >:([/edit] ;D
