Quick question: How to disassemble the WL Exec.?

Hi,

So it seems that the case that came with my WL Executive is a lint magnet/generator and now I have to clean the lens.
Is there a way to remove the end cap so that I can completely clean the lens? I prefer asking instead of applying too much force :)

Thanks!

Re: Quick question: How to disassemble the WL Exec

The end cap is difficult to remove, and next to impossible if you want to remove it without scratching the case.

I removed the end cap of my Classic by using a cutter, but you may be able to find a better (much better) tool for this, the problem is that since the cap is press-fitted, it is difficult to remove it and you need to apply a lot of force, so I would not recommend it unless you don't care risking it.

If you want to clean the lens from the outside, use a microfiber cloth and don't apply too much force on the lens, or use a can of compressed air instead, the IR filter seems to be glued to the aperture cap with a very tiny amount of glue, so if you apply too much force it will come off, transforming your laser into a shoddy (IR leaking) laser, and you won't be able to repair it unless you RMA it or remove the end cap, and it's very difficult to put it back as it was.

Hm, thanks for the info!

Guess I'll go safe and order myself a Lenspen :)

Try a canned pressure duster first if it's just lint. Don't let it burn to the lens.

My tried and true wood block trick will remove the front end of most portables but you have to be careful as to what pulls out and be ready to re-assemble it ;D.

I'd like to hear about this wood block trick...

Re: Quick question: How to disassemble the WL Exec

u just take a block of wood and drill a circle in it with the same diameter as your laser. Cut the wood in half directly thru the middle of the hole, and place your laser in the hole. Use a vice or something to clamp down the two blocks of wood, and pry the laser apart.
