Re: Question about getting the LD into the AIX hou

I dont have a nut socket that small...

Ive been using a really small screwdriver, and slowly tapping it in, but now one side is a little bit more in than the other, and i cant get it in.

Re: Question about getting the LD into the AIX hou

because of the shape of my LD I had to use a drenel to grind out some of the bottom of the casing(pictures later when I get everything working)

and when i'm ready i'll have to glue it in place. so if your LD is not round you may have the same problem.

I got it in, but now I have a diffrent problem :-(

Read thread I just made.

I used a nut, and got it in good(oiled it up first though)

This is a much better alternative though  :)

You can get that same vise at harbor freight for $5.00 !!!!!!!

Re: Question about getting the LD into the AIX hou

Most people reverse the rear housing of the Aizix module to use as a push die in a vice.  Some stuff we do requires a creative mind -- that's where learning begins  ;D ;D  The use of a nut and a drill press as an arbor press also works well.

reverse the housing and clamp it. That's what I did. It does leave a little depression on the bottom of the housing though. If you do not have a clamp, search around the house for a screw in container ti rig a simple clamp.

Place top housing in one end and secure it so it doesn't move around.

Place diode.

Place washer/bottom part of aixiz housing.

Add spacers till correct height/depth.

Close the container and screw it tight slowly.

Attempt this at your own risk.

Guys..I got it in already

Yes you did and you did it YOUR way rather than waiting for advice. I would not be surprised if you ruined the diode by tapping on it.. :P

Re: Question about getting the LD into the AIX hou

Fortunately, the reds are tougher than greenies. I had to "tap" a red into place once to get it tipped straight. Not recommended but it worked.
Also, all these ideas are intended to serve others who follow so they don't have to ask the same question.
