Purchasing a green laser, Please Help!

Nothing wrong with settling for less IMO as long as you are settling due to an educated decision on your part that for whatever reason, it is in your best interest to go with a less costly alternative.....just my opinion....as for the rayfoss question: they have a 20mW Green Pen style laser here: EDIT: removed 405nm link, 532 link below

And as for overspec or not, its a toss up, many people do receive overspec lasers from them but once in a while there is an underspec one. Faona is very helpful however so if you contact rayfoss, she can answer any questions you have regarding any of their products...but the above laser is 18 dollars so I really don't think you can lose....

I believe they can put one on it if you request one....another thing to mention in an email to Faona if you are seriously thinking about one of their lasers.

Oh cool, how do you do that, and how much more money does it cost? And also I don't think the link you gave me was a 532nm.

1. No, anything more than 5mW is not considered eye safe. You could get away with 30mW without goggles if you were smart (not pointing at shiny or white things) But I generally say if you have to ask, you need goggles.

2. A 30mW beam would be a little more than twice as bright as a 5mW. A general rule is 4 times the power is twice the brightness though there are other important factors such as beam size and divergence.

3. I believe wicked lasers uses IR filters, but you probably wouldn't get a laser from them for a while. They're likely still backed up with arctics orders. I would go with a Nova, they resell CNI lasers and all CNI greens will have a IR filter. However CNI lasers have a tendency to be overpowered which could be an issue if you don't want to use goggles.

I got my Evo 2 100mw from them fast, 3 days to north carolina.It is an excellent laser.I gambled and I won.I posted a mini review of it, it is an excellent green laser as is my older evo pro 40mw.They have tiny beams and very good divergence.They are available in 20mw...
But the choice is up to you.I doubt many here would risk it....

Rayfoss has said they would install IR filters on lasers before but that is about all they will do. There were a few cases where lasers that were supposed to have IR filters came without them.

I have heard the Evo Pro/Evo 2 Fusion are cni modules.How does one identify a cni module?I have seen this in multiple places but it would be nice to know for certain if it is true.Both of my evo pro series are wonderful lasers...and at wicked's current pricing AA power plus CNI goodness would make the Evos a bargain....if you can get past the arctic disaster....which I am guessing most can't!!!
 
I just want to know how you can tell them (Rayfoss) to put an IR filter in a laser.
 
You e-mail them and ask, but don't expect them to actually put one in there. They have lied and said they did install one when they actually didn't several times.
