I am currently asking the author of this video questions regarding the build here, but I was wondering if anyone here knew what happens or what needs to be built into this in order to produce a harmless laser to aim, and to produce the highest power laser burst seen here.

Also, is this at all fascinating or what?! Or maybe it's not all that big??

I don't think he is going to tell you how to make one, he says so right in the information on the video to not ask for a tutorial or plans.

You need to search around. If you want real laser power you need to get into gas lasers or pulsed ruby lasers, niether is too portable without a LOT of work.
