Hi, I’m Frank from Dragonlasers. I work in customer support there. I’ve finally decided to start posting on this forum and defend Dragonlasers against the constant defamation from Pseudonomen137.

First a little bit of background information on the relationship between Dragonlasers and Pseudonomen137.

Before Dragonlasers started its online business just over a year ago, there were no direct competitors for wickedlasers. Pseudonomen137 used this lack of competition to sell lasers he’d purchased directly from CNI at much lower prices than wickedlasers. Dragonlasers in effect also became a competitor of Pseudonomen137 and had a negative impact on Pseudonomen137’s profits and business in general. In summary, Dragonlasers and Pseudonomen137 are competitors.

From day one, Pseudonomen137 has used every opportunity to attack and defame Dragonlasers. Quite surprising even for a competitor considering the amount of time and energy he used in his postings and threads. As a competitor, altruism is very unlikely to be the motivation behind these constant attacks.

In terms of expertise, knowledge and understanding of lasers, Pseudonomen137 has proved himself a number of times and has my complete respect. When it comes to Dragonlasers though, Pseudonomen137 has shown himself to be prejudiced, has admitted to a vendetta and in terms of impartiality, has a blind spot as big as a barn door.

Given this background, a review and testing by Pseudomas on Dragonlasers does not have much more credibility than a review by Wickedlasers or any other competitor.

Dragonlasers and scamming

Contrary to Pseudonomen137’s belief, Dragonlasers is not in the business of scamming people. We supply quality products at low prices with a high level of customer service. There is no deceit, fraud or swindling involved.

We do not ship under spec 125mW Viper laser pointers or any other lasers. Our technicians carefully test all lasers both after manufacture and before shipping to ensure this. Testing at Dragonlasers is conducted by our technical department and involves using professional power meters for beam power, observation over time for mode shifting and general beam quality and other tests I’m not completely familiar with.

No system is perfect especially with international shipping so there is bound to be the odd occasion when a customer receives an under spec laser. If that makes Dragonlasers a scammer, then every seller of lasers, Pseudonomen137 included, is a scammer. When a customer does receive an under spec laser from Dragonlasers, we go out of our way solve the problem to their satisfaction.

Selling up to spec lasers is not just about honesty and integrity, it is also about good business.  It is simple basic logic that under spec lasers makes unhappy customers which is bad for business. Why this logic eludes genuine scammers (no names) continues to puzzle me. The managers at Dragonlasers care too much about long term profit to scam customers.

The ignorant could claim that most people who buy 125mW lasers do not understand lasers and have no way to measure the real output. This claim does not hold too much substance because most people will get a 125mW laser as a second or third laser and if they can’t test the power, they will know people who can. Many people on this forum and other forums are meeting and/or mailing lasers back and forth to test powers.

The actual testing itself

I work in customer support and administration so I’m not particularly qualified to comment on the actual tests carried out by Pseudonomen137. To be honest, the testing seems detailed and  thorough. All I can say at this stage is the results from Pseudonomen137 tests do not match the results from the tests here prior to shipping. I’ll save any further comments on the testing till the lasers are returned and tested again by our technicians.

Keep in mind that Pseudonomen137 staked his reputation on the test failing, he needed the testes to fail, so there is no way that the tests could have been carried out with complete impartiality.

Pseudonomen137 and the purchase/return of tested lasers

I understand the need for secrecy to ensure Pseudonomen137 is treated like a normal customer but I’m very doubtful whether it required such a degree of dishonesty. Seem strange to use deceit to uncover what you believe to be a scam.

One very interesting point that Pseudonomen137 fails to mention is that he went directly to paypal to try to claim a refund on his purchase. He made no attempt to contact or communication with Dragonlasers until paypal rejected his claim. What is more interesting is that on filing a claim on paypal, Pseudonomen137 after opening a dispute, immediately escalated the dispute in a matter of minutes and gave no opportunity at all for communication with Dragonlasers. The end result is his claim was rejected in a matter of hours instead of the customary 20-30 days.

Dragonlasers on the other hand treated Pseudonomen137 fairly and upheld our company policies, agreeing to refund the lasers like we would with any other customer.

These actions do not come across to me as the actions of some one who is being fair and impartial.

In conclusion

Despite Pseudonomen137’s expertise and integrity in other matters, I cannot take these test results seriously because of his lack of credibility in relation to Dragonlasers. If lasers from Dragonlasers are purchased by other people and tested by respected neutral third parties such as the moderators at this forum, then I would take them seriously respond accordingly.

I’ll be posting again as soon as the two Viper 125mW lasers from Pseudonomen137 have been returned and I have feedback from our technical department.

P.S. If this posting comes across as long winded or aggressive, my apologies. I along with every one at Dragonlasers, works hard to provide outstanding customer service and giving customers excellent value for money. I deeply resent that the company I work for, my colleagues or myself being called scammers by some one who has the sole intention is discrediting Dragonlasers for their own benefit.

Very informative and explaining reply on current bashings.

Actually i find both sound very accurate and honest about their experiences and explainations.

Personally i have with both Pseudo and Dragonlasers, perfect experiences in buying up-to-spec lasers from them. Thats why i really am curious about where this blackmailing started. confused.. :-/

Pseudo altering the results of his tests for his own personal agenda those are some pretty serious claims! This to me sounds like a snap reaction to his remarkable discovery! I'm not going to put any credit on your claims. ;)

Re: Pseudonomen137 & the defamation of Dragonlaser

As you can see in my sig, i have 1x 55mW above spec, and 1x 125mW above spec. both checked at the nearby university with high quality laser measurement equipment. So, i can't confirm any accussions towards DL, they sent me the products as promised, with an A+ service rating.

The near-IR listed in my sig, is also well over-specced, and measured/tested with certificate by Pseudo. Did not had the time to check it myself, but soon i will have a LPM-1 to check. Although i honestly feel pseudo didn't alter or change the test results at al. As far as i know him, he is very trustworthy. Also A+ on service rating, and product wel above spec then stated at sale.

Thats why i'm a bit confused.... :-/ they both appear to me as honest and trustworthy on selling lasers, as far as i experienced.
Still this flamewar exists on pretty harsh accusements, but also on measurement facts and explainations. ..

Re: Pseudonomen137 & the defamation of Dragonlaser

I understand people are happy with DL, I know many aren't. I personally think DL have good products being sold by idiots. There were the same issues with the CNI 125mW when it was at WL so DL aren't to blame other than when they lie and call respectable people liars.

Re: Pseudonomen137 & the defamation of Dragonlaser

Dragonlasers, for the most part you are just blowing smoke and fire out of your dragon *&~^.

1. Pseudo is not a dealer or campany by any means and if you consider him as your competition, then you're a much smaller operation than I thought. Pseudo is a hobbyist/collector who has happend to do 1 or two group buys from CNI.

2. His reviews are among the best, accurate and most trusted on the entire web. He uses high quality equipment, has extensive experience with lasers and as far as I know, he buys the lasers he reviews, so he gets a laser typical of what a regular customer would get, not a cherry-picked laser. His reviews are unbiased and accurate. If you got a bad reivew or opinion of your lasers from Pseudo, it was based on fact and actual measurements from a faulty laser. Any laser could get damaged in shipment, so I expect if he got a bad one from you, your customer support was contacted about a repair/replacement. I expect this opinion is/was based on repetitive or multiple faulty/bad lasers.

Pseudo has bought and reviewed 2 of our RPL lasers, both green and blue; he was unbaised in these reviews and listed all pros and cons as he saw them.

With Pseudo, the review of a product is nothing less than honest, I would even consider him the "Ralph Nader" of the laser hobbyist, protecting the interests of the laser consumer and making laser manufacturers/dealers improve the quality of their products.

I personally have no experience with dragonlasers and am glad they came to be and competes with WL, but to come to this forum with only 1 previous post and flame a dedicated forum member who contributes to this forum and it's members a great deal of his time and effort to help them become well informed, is pretty lame.

Opinions of companies can always change (bad to good, or good to bad), if you want to improve your image and the opinions people (those who really know lasers), then you should put effort into better QA and testing before sending them to customers, not taking the route that other unmentioned companies take and put their effort into barking out propaganda.

Re: Pseudonomen137 & the defamation of Dragonlaser

I'm sorry Frank but i'll have to stand by Pseudo on this one.
I recently received my power meter. The Hulk I purchased not 3 months ago, averages LESS than 200mW over 5 minutes with brand new 1.5v Energizer C batteries. Which is no where near the 230mW average I was promised before I made the purchase.
I'm quite disappointed with these results. Especially since I have been defending your company from accusations for the past year on both LC and LPF.

Re: Pseudonomen137 & the defamation of Dragonlaser

I'll do this one post at a time

Labrakisk
-sorry about the company fighting etc. I tried to avoid it so that was my first post.

Laq
-I don't know about black mailing. Pseudonomen137 is in no way blackmailing us and comes across as a generally reasonable person who would not do that. Dragonlasers is being accused as spammers in the same league as some other sellers (no names). I cannot accept that hence this post.

Chief-eammon
-i did not say pseudonomen137 altered the results of the test, i said that they did not match our in house testing that they lacked impartiality

Sc_bond
-I did not say that pseudonomen137 lied, i said he lacks credibility when it comes to Dragonlasers. A big difference.

Bootleg2go
-Pseudonomen137 regularly buys large quantities from CNI. From memory he has mentioned 3k to 5k of orders in a forum posting. He makes posts in forums offering people deals on lasers and has sold lasers on this forum. If some one sells the same product to the same market as you, that makes them a competitor regardless of quantity.

me_to_lazy
-yours is a hard one. I'm very sorry that your Hulk is performing below spec, particularly since you've been a great customer. Could you please email our sales department at sales@dragonlasers.com so we can sort it out for you.
