What kind of laser is there in a Ps2, how powerful is it, & is it worth the time & energy to rip a broken one apart to get the laser out, & what can you use it for ? Thanks to any & all who take the time to answer phoenix77/rob

yeah its not really worth it unless you just want a pointer? does the ps2 work?

It's my son's & since he left for Basic Training, he said I could have it to use the laser from it, but he did say it was having trouble reading the discs from some of his games. why do you ask ?

do you know how to take it apart? fat or slim ps2? could just be a dirty lens or lens height adjustment needed... i fix and modify consoles. if you can give me the number after SCPH on the back of the console i can point you in the direction of fixing it. its usually really simple stuff and you can resell the ps2 on ebay or to a friend for around 50$ and buy some other diodes.
