i have seen a few builds where the sled are used to combine different aixiz modules but i have a new suggestions for another use

i bought a couple of sleds but doubt it would have good collimation at a distance and still get your complete beam dia into the cube. Beam dia at that distance from lens looks like 6mm across to me and the cubes are a mere 3mm and 4mm.

i know this method already works but i would like to use the pbs in a more efficient way since the cost of the larger ones are so much and most of these are going to waste.

i propose a project were we can focus the aixiz module to the tighter point roughly 1.25" from from lens and place a biconvex lens or other collimation optics "optics are not my field" so that the beam profile can be optimized for this small aperature.

My reason for this is shown below:

i have seen this done and it looks tedious and expensive with 12mm or larger pbs at 30$ each.

here is the awesome beast:

thankyou arctos and i would wear some glasses with that

i propose all the diode modules be mounted on one same axiz and pbs mount on smallest xyz mount we can find mm1 i guess.

i would just need help in finding the correct optic's to complete the proposed idea.

same could be done for blues.

anyone with exptertese in this field please help!!

I don't see why it couldn't be done but I don't what the pbs cubes in those sleds are coated for so sombody else will have to pitch in here.

Sorry for the off topic post but....
everytime i see Eku's avatar pic , i cant help but to bust out laughing..
I would love to see the aftermath

coating are ideal its just getting the entire beam in there and coming out with good divergence

Ok, I could be wrong, but here it goes:
Do you remember what a "PBS" cube stands for again? It's a polarized beam splitter cube. Because of the polarization in the cube, the two lasers at opposite polarization will be combined. The new beam has two different polarizations now. Because of the two different polarizations, if that same beam crosses another cube, then one beam will go through and one will be reflected.
Please, correct me if I'm wrong!

Also, take a look at this thread, it shows a possible way of combining four red lasers.

don't understand your comment. yes it is funny but what aftermath. you want to see his burnt weiner?

You are not wrong at all. A PBS cube can only be used to combine TWO lasers of opposite polarities. Therefore, using them in a fashion similar to the diagram above would not be possible without heavy losses.

i will explain if i can..

light goes in the cube, horizontal light goes out the right, vertical light goes straight thru. "i believe it actually turns the image 90 degrees but i could be wrong"

The light emited from the diode for the most part is already polarized to begin with so by rotating the module we can cause the pbs to reflect this energy to the right. now we know ouput light is traveling on a horizontal plane.

now this energy leaving the first cube is entering the next cube but since its on the same plane and it matches the coatings it goes straight thru.. " i am sure there is a slight walkoff but this can be worked". the pbs are set up with the same orientation in order for this to work.

i know i could be wrong in the way i explain this but again this is not my field but i am learning :)

here is the monster i admire:

i hope you dont mind me posting this pic. it just shows how much dedication and engineering it takes to complete this task. AWESOME !!!

well i just found out they were not pbs some knife edge mirrors... back to the drawing board LOL.

after messing around with a small cube i think they can only be used to combine different wavelengths
