No dude, it's to put his blinkin' eye out so his depth perception is screwed up and can't chase you without running into a tree. Then you use the laser as a distress becon to alert the forest ranger of the 'mad' bear.:D
Not that I would purposely harm a bear. I'm just sayin' your not allowed to carry your gun in certain campgrounds, so if a bear or some other ferocious animal comes at you, whatcha gonna do?

Ok, since we're all talking about our >5mW lasers, I actuall have a practical use for mine at work. See my avatar for an example. I repair vacuums, and many of them come in with hair or thread fibers wrapped tightly around shafts, etc. The old method was to use a pair of small needle-nose pliers and small picks...it could take 10 minutes or more! Well, not any more...
