Power of the laser?

Is there anyway to know how much powerful a laser is?without a laser power meter.How much strong blue laser when focused properly can burn a hole in wooden log after few min?Also will the power of the laser decrease overtime?

No you can not know the output power other than what the seller or reseller says it is without a Laser Power Meter.

You can damage it in many way reducing either apparent or actual output power and eventually it will have no output so...

Without a speedometer you can not know the speed
of the car by wetting your finger and holding it out
the window.
Just like you need a Laser Power Meter to know the
actual power of a Laser's beam.
