Post your random videos!

Here's where I am, non visible has leaf burning fun without unwanted attention, not that that's a issue now but the future of American freedom is a big question mark, also 10um is eye safe as far as diffuse across the yard spot glow goes, but 808 is as dangerous as visible without being making it the worse choice for safety.

Then there's practicality and cost.

Plus I like pretty and in the daytime or early evening especially during summer visible is not so much visible.

I want next years single diode light source media unit today and at the everybody can play 699.99 and less new target.

Got a time machine in your pocket I can borrow?

Dear Lord. Those videos are cool and scary at the time. 40W to 80W instantly etching and burning wood. The highest I have worked with is 15W. Can you imagine if he dropped something and absent mindedly walked around the front of the laser? A tree has to be your beam dump :D

All our military lasers are outside of the visible and near ir range, most are 1550nm or eye safe designed for anti material, we don't want a drone to burn out a radar station and accidentally blind our troops who are on the ground.
Even our range finders are around 1550 to be eye safe.

The HELLADS High Energy Liquid Laser Areal Defense System is 150KW fiber laser, the pumped fiber gain medium with bragg grating for mode locking with the gain medium in the fiber, the earlier unit was FRIESTRIKE and it was stackable boxes of neodymium doped plates.

HELLADS is very high power but it is used for anti material, not anti personnel and not meant to be an eye hazard, quite the opposite to prevent friendly collateral damage. It is a true fiber laser capable of 150,000 watts.

It is very interesting to read about, the even older chemical laser was a rocket engine that produced a toxic exhaust that was also a short lived but very efficient gain medium that had to be used hot then vented. It was mounted in an AC 130 aircraft I do believe.

ZEUSE was a mobile ordinance disposal solid state laser, I think it used FIRESTRIKE.

There was also THEL and MTHEL Mobile Tactical High Energy Laser

Interesting fact about the 1550nm and eye safety. Also that the diode operates at one heck of a temperature range.

Doe, there just bucking around.

These guys are half crazy but fun.
