I know what you mean. I have enough faith in Avery to know that if he opened a poll to get input on an important decision he wouldn't close it even after an initial landslide in one direction.
I don't really think a hard and fast requirement on all user polls is really necessary though... especially when the vast majority of polls don't affect the direction of the forum, really.
