i just saw this diode on ebay, it is an osram diode rated at 90mw,the seller has a messed up diode package as it list this both as a 5.6 and 3.8mm diode but it has a 480ma working current which looks very promising if it is a single mode.

has anyone tested this?

edit: it listed on DTR'S page also, looks like i have missed it,sorry about that.

Hi,
Its a multimode and i think its a 5.6m i had built quite a few and these are really nice diodes with a great dot size for a multimode. Oh and DTR has a few left short inventory so get them now from Jordan. And also 450 to 550mA this can take..

Isn't that the same one that DTR sells, Here?

Edit: You beat me to it again, Rich! :yh:

does this have the same divergence as pl520b?

yea, sorry i saw that after i posted it

Hi BT,
Yes they are the same at least Jordan will stand behind his products and you don't have to wait 3 or 4 weeks to get it. Buy it from Jordan , keep it in the family.

Hi deadshadow, Here is a link to a build I made with the Plp-520 B1; there is a side by side pic in it showing it compared to a 532nm at about 30'.
I don't have the divergance numbers, but it has a very good beam/dot for a MM diode.

Looking at the beam from your 532nm laser, it looks like the divergence is awful for a DPSS laser, Jeff. I can see the beam spreading out, or it is just spread more to begin with. In this comparison, the 520nm looks about as tight as the 532nm from the dot, but it is definitely not Gaussian. I know, it couldn't be.

You're right Paul, I had the 532nm beam de-focused in that wavelength comparison pic, it seemed to show the wavelength difference more clearly.

Well, that explains it. Thanks. I was wondering why it looked so bad for a DPSS laser, Jeff. BTW, was finally able to push you to 540K. :yh:

They are sure proud of that diode! At $95.50, what output can you get? About 200 mW or so? It is rated for 100 mW, so must be somewhere around there. It is a multi mode too?

It claims to be single mode but the spec sheet has no part number that I could see.

I'm thinking at that power rating it is likely a multi mode. If it is wider on one axis than the other, it is likely not a single mode. The single mode 520nm diodes don't look that way.

You can pick up the Osram 520nm 90 mW diode for $51.29. It will probably perform as well if not better in beam specs.

If that is it, then that's $60.00. Not nearly as bad as the eBay listing. I wonder why that Chinese seller wants so much for it.
