PHR 803T 405nm Diode Extract

Yes I know it's to protect the laser diode from reverse polarity but I heard on the internet that shottky and zener diodes could be used for this purpose(not laser related). So I wanted to be sure. Also I have some 1N4001 diodes but I couldn't find them in a smd version whereas shottky and zener diodes exist in smd.

I don't think a zener will work for reverse polarity protection.

Forget about that diode entirely - just omit it.

As for the capacitor: this can be anything within reason really, 1 uF is an indication, but it will work with a 100 uF of reasonable quality too, but even with smaller (100 nF or so) ceramic caps it will be fine.

I would suggest adding another capacitor at the input of the circuit - its recommended by the manufacturer, and sometimes helps solve otherwise very tricky problems. Anyting 1 uF to 100 uF should be fine here too. Just make sure its rated for at least the input voltage.

Can the diode be replaced by any shottky, zener or 1N400x diode of any type?

Always use a Schottky diode for ELECTROSTATIC protection.
Forward voltage is lower.
For 30 cents, it is a very good protection device.

I think diodes are a handy comopnent to use for reverse polarity i always use them when i can.

I readed that from PHR i can get the red lasser too (it is in IR diode).. That diode can make a visible beam? If can, what i need to run that diode too?! Thanks!

FIrst of all, you are spellin 'laser' wrong all the time, one 's' is needed.

Second, the red/IR diode combo from PHR is not worth the trouble, people have been running the red diode at 50mA max, no burning capablities at all.
Not worth the aixiz module IMHO.
