Perfect 9mm host! :)

There's alot of smart, experimental people on this forum so this might have been found before, but on the o-like 532nm green modules, the focusing lens inside the module provides a perfect fit for a bare 9mm diode, when the lens in pushed out of course.

The o-like lens holder will have to be drilled out to provide a hole for the Diode cap to fit through but the end result will provide you with a threaded brass holder for yr 9mm diode that can be screwed into the empty o-like module "where it came from" and from there your own DIY greeny can be afforably achieved by mocking up the o-like crystal set in the same module!

The best thing about this Renno is that it will fit inside a pen host, being a o-like module, but you wouldnt have a 2w diode in a leadlight anyway, it would most definatley overheat! And you pay $36 for 3 5mw modules, and you get 3 9mm rings, 3 driver boards, 3 crystal sets, 3 500mw 808nm diodes if you can get them out!. So you get a abit for experimentation but as you said, the rayfoss modules are great and i have a few coming!!!

I believe the diodes in the 5mW modules are 250mW, only the >100mW have the 500mW. Someone feel free to correct me on this.

not sure about the diode power. my 120mw o-like draws 600-650mA. the "5mW" ones were up to 30mW actually, all useable. draw 350mA.

thats a good idea, to use those hosts for other 9mm diodes. obvious, but i didnt realize that, although i have one completely open already

but then i dont like multimode (9mm) diodes that much, i prefer (less powerful) singlemode diodes with better beamquality..

Inside diameter is about 11.5mm, aixiz lens assembly can not fit correctly, but lens itself can be replaced with aixiz lens.

Lenses are the same size.

..a source for those 11mm lens "holders" or "nuts" would be nice..
for this "9mm host" mod, as well as for replacing the stock lens on greenies..
