http://www.pad2pad.com supply their own free simple circuit design program which is pretty useful for the small stuff, plus they can use the result of the program to make the boards for you if you wanted loads of them.

You should use Eagle. It is free, pretty powerful, well supported, and popular (thus people can help you with it). Here is a nice tutorial.
