I got an offer for an item and they said they wanted to use paypal, They are in Texas and want the item shipped to them and they are paying for shipping. What can happen with paypal that could be bad for me? Any way for a scam? I only used it a few times with trust worthy people so I'm not sure of how good it is with people i really have no clue on.

It's not paypal that would be scamming you, you should watch out for the people your doing business with :)

I know it's not paypal, but how likely is it that someone will scam me using paypal?

make sure they are pp verified or at least have a confirmed address. only ship to that address and print your label thru paypal and save the "stub" from the printed label. if anything goes down thats the proof you sent it to a confrmed address.

Don't ship anything unless the money is cleared and in your PP account.
And only ship to the address on the PayPal Invoice that you find in your PP account.
Don't use Invoices people send you... get them directly from your own PPaccount
after you have signed in. ;)

...Use "online trackable" postage, it is the only thing guaranteed to be accepted by paypal if there is a dispute. The danger is that if you send by standard post the customer can deny that the item has been delivered, paypal will need proof from you that they can verify.

do not trust that email you got. check the header to make sure it was actually sent by paypal which i highly doubt. just from what i can tell it looks like a scam. paypal WILL NOT hide money from you until you provide a tracking number so my guess is thats its definately a fake email.

when in doubt forward the email to this addy and ask them if its genuine: spoof@paypal.com

Good spot ndrew, I have never seen that "approved" paragraph before, If you log into paypal from your ebay account you will be able to see the invoice if it is genuine. If it is not there it is not real.......
