Instead of throwing diodes away with testing, you might want to go over the charts, and all the hard work members have done here on testing those diodes. Thats what we are here for. First off I can tell you 3A is a diode killer. It doesnt matter the efficiency. In may cases 2A is also a diode killer. And we are not talking about hours here.

if you are looking to get the max output, you should run them at around 1.8A,
2A may work, but they will actually start to get dimmer past ~1.8A

If you are looking to get the most out of them, actively cooling them will get more output power.

My hand held laser puts out 2000mW when the room temp is 75f,
it goes up to 2150mW when ambient temps are 40f.

Your not going toget any life out of them at 3A, just figured you should know before you try it, you will be killing these diodes instantly at 3A. Don't try 3A unless you seriously just want to blow the diode for fun-z's
