I have some thick, translucent orange plastic. Does anyone know how I could reasonably see how good it is at protecting against blue light? I want to use it as a shield for some laser demos at my old high school.

Just because it is thick and orange doesn't mean it will block 445nm light. I'd suggest if you want to test the plastic. Send a sample of it to one of the members to test for you.

^The rating for protection is optical density which is based on the logarithm of transmission. A laser power meter is about the only instrument you can use to quantitatively measure transmission.

TL;DR: no
