Its a beautiful thing !!!!
I did a review on LC few months ago and guess what they did to it >:(.
I was going to post a new one here but I knew Senkat was getting one to review soon. He's way more qualified for the job.

Here is another teaser pic though ..
(taken without any smoke and with major ceiling light ON- exp 0.4sec, ISO 500)

Yes Milos,
Very nice for bright lighting and a .4 second exposure.

Thanks
jack

Thanks. It still amazes me how visible beam is. I can never get tired of it ;D
Here is another one shooting across the room. same setup.

I'll see yours and raise you

f 2.8, 1/8th second exposure, iso 320. It's enough to light the room ( look at the table behind the computer and the walls )

Senkat where's your review at? Come on buddy times a wasting! Inquiring minds want to know!

Hi Guys...and Gal if one or two happen to be around.
i'm *always* around when RPLs are mentioned, you *know* i want one if/when i can afford it :)

Bump for Senkat's review ( where is it man? )

Some new vids I posted on my review thread at the CPF

RPL beam after a day of heavy rain and some fog the other night
http://208.219.69.31/laser/rpl/rpl.921.wmv ( 2mb ) sorry I had to keep the res high so you could see the beam )

More vids

http://208.219.69.31/laser/rpl/rplvis.wmv ( 700kb )

Matchlight the next day after a recharge since I ran the rpl down playing with it in the fog that night

http://208.219.69.31/laser/rpl/rplmatchlight.wmv ( 1mb )

you can see the beam isn't nowhere near as visible now even though the lighting is the same.

I'm not sure what's going on, I think maybe SenKat doesn't have time for posting on the LPF lately.
Last Wednesday he told me he had finished the review and was going to add a couple finshing touches and have it online later that day.

I'm as interested and excited about the review as everybody else.
I got the RPL-260 back yesterday and Greg took excellent care of it, returning it in perfect mint condition. I re-tested the output power and beam quality, then shipped it out to one of my larger university accounts to use as a loaner laser while one of theirs is being repaired.
Not that they fail often, but when you have a large number of RPLs and they're being used by students, accidents will happen once in awhile and one gets dropped.

Thank you Greg for spending the time to evaluate and report on the RPL, and for taking such great care of it; I hope you had some fun too with it.

Jack, and all :

I have had a myriad of "issues" as of late - the least of which is the failing of my camera :( MOST of hte awesome pictures are stuck in the camera's internal memory - and only a few shots are on the memory card :( I am sorry that it has taken so long to get the review up and posted - I am currently PRAYING that the camera shop (since it is underwarranty) can repair the camera, and recover the pictures - I told them to spare no costs, since I am desperate for the contents ! There were some truly uniques pics on there, and I really DO hope they can help me out. Along with the camera issues, I dropped the ND filter for my LPM-1 power meter, and it shattered int oa bajillion little pieces on my concrete garage floor :( In addition to those issues, I had all the sentorches come in, and the shipping fiasco with the post office refusing to serve handicapped people (long story, that one is....) but suffice it to say that life has hit me head on the nose, and it was a staggering blow !

Jack - IF for some reason I am unable to recover the pics, I would like to pay postage both ways to be able to re-photograph everything again once you receive the loaner back from the university. I can assure you it would receive my single most attention, to the exclusion of all else.

Greg

One last thing - my initial impressions were thus : WHY have I not purchased one of these yet ? The laser itself is gorgeous - made perfectly, I love the over-all feel of it for the short time I had it - and I would highly recommend that anyone who wants "The supreme laser" to purchase one of these - as there really is not any comparison available in the market today !

I can vouch for all these issues as I was speaking to SenKat on the phone when most of this happened and to hear a grown man almost in tears was quite disturbing......

But he was really full of priase for the RPL and hopefully if they can recover the pics to go with the amazing review he has got their ready then you will all be amazed 8-)

Not to mention how my forehead has been flattened the past few days, from banging my head against the wall for breaking that filter !

I’ve been waiting patiently to see SenKat’s review of the RPL before I made my decision on which laser to buy. I was already ‘leaning’ towards going with Optotronics ---- SenKat’s brief but glowing initial impression comments about the RPL ‘pushed’ me over completely to go with Jack’s product. Next, the hard part is to decide which mW output to go with……

There are other independent reviews of the laser..all of them good.

As far as mw's, get the highest rated laser you can afford.

Hi Greg,
Any luck on the camera repair?
Did you do any burning experiments or such with the RPL that you can describe/tell us about?

Take care
Jack
