Hey everyone, I'm putting together an open-source argon laser control board.

The goal is to provide one board that supports multiple configurations; to support both a simple "get it running now" and a fancier digital interface depending on what parts you populate on the board.

I have a super early build laid out and was hoping I could get some community input before I send off any boards to be produced.

Current features:
-Arduino Nano based
-Supports 2 line LED or 16x2 character lcd display
-LEDs to indicate beam and operation mode
-Laser output controllable via arduino or potentometers
-Linear regulator for non-backlit LCD or SMPS buck converter for LED/backlit LCD.

Current thoughts on the initial build:
-R2R ladder DAC takes up a lot of board space and resistors. I'm considering just slapping in an actual DAC
-Available current from the argon PSU is low, will need to be careful with power draw
-Maybe redesign for an OLED display or something else?

This board is designed to mount directly on a JDSU 2112 power supply similar to the factory controller

To do list:
Fix pinout for the mode switches (push-push style latching pushbuttons)
Add mounting holes for large size potentiometers or find some smaller ones that have built-in knobs
