Omnichrome 171 repair

I have a string of 10 100K ohm resistors in series around :) maybe those on a long stick or something. I've also emailed a few people, I wonder what I can possibly do with my limited electrical knowledge. Hopefully the problem is obvious. Hoping it's not the rectifier or something.

A dead rectifier is easy and cheap to fix, unfortunately it's not a common failure unless it was physically damaged like occurred with my Lexel 95, and even those 50A stud diodes didn't cost all that much to replace.

First thing first is to look for crispy components as you said you could smell burnt electronics. Based on where the crispy bits are you may need to check other nearby parts. Blown switching FETs could easily also toast the PWM controller etc.

Agreed. I just was looking along the front panel as it's right in front after all. Some of the wires that are attached to it are a bit darkened, but I think it's just poor connection not damage. I'll need further disassembly. Problem is a large portion of it is covered by heat sink. So I'm gonna have to carefully go over a few things to get it fully apart.
