O-like's bluray driver

thanks i tried that config but seem to be not enough power, any thoughts?
running with 9v battery ok for a sec then dies away:undecided:
thanks.
Empty battery.

Forget 9V brick batteries. They suck.

Use 2x or 3x lithium ion batteries in series.

A 3xAAA lamp should provide nice host , replace AAA's with 10440 lithium ions, they are the same size as AAA.

If i'm not wrong PS3 diode are PHR-308T's...
For the driver, there is a simpler way to build one, only need 6 parts:
Your diode
Aixiz module
LM317
12 ohm resistor
Capacitor
and a power source!

Then wire everything like this:

With your 12 ohm you'll get about 105mA flowing thru your driver. Bluray diodes need 4.8V-5V to operate and this driver need 2.5V above that. So 5V+2.5V = 7.5V to operate. If you connect a 9V (you'll have to change it often), don't let your laser on more than 1 minute. Let it cool down.

Hope this was helpfull and if I am wrong on any point, please anyone correct me!

Kyle

got light but not focused seems to be scattered any suggestions

Since you do not call your doctor to ask what's wrong with you...

You need to show us what you've got. Shoot pictures, ask questions later.

Exactly what I was thinking.
Common misconception, people think bare diodes already give you a focused laser beam.

BTW, Kyle, you might want to fix your signature.

Instead of creating a new thread, I thought I'd hijack this one instead.

I have one of these drivers, and am aware of the pinout fail. That has been duly noted.

Now- my question is- will this driver run from an 18650? Although the site says 3-5V input, some guy had his blow up at 4.5V. So I'm not too sure on this one.

I need a new host (I lost the old one) and if I could use an 18650 host it'd make things easier.

Fully charged 18650 is 4.20 V, not 4.5.

I see no reason for it not to work off one lithium ion cell.

Thats why you don't have a focus, the bare diode emits the light and the Aixiz module focuses it down to a small point so it can burn.
Get an Aixiz module on either hightechdealz.com, modwerx.com or StoneTek Electronics, Your Laser Parts Store then press fit it inside the module...lots of vids on youtube to show you how...

Hope this helps

Kyle
