So, I got to thinking, a 3 cell 32650 build with a big ass heat sink is all well and good. It is so heavy, you can use it as a batan skull crusher in a pinch.

But, suppose you need something more portable... never know when Antifa might darken your door, so a portable light is in order.

It uses one of Survival Laser's stainless steel hosts. But the heatsink is Lifetime17's.

I am using an ASC4500 because it delivers 4.5 amp on 2 18350s. SXDs won't yield that amperage with just 2 such cells.

With an extension it can take 2 18650s

It uses the same modular technique as my mag build. The driver is in the heatsink on a separate shelf.

There you go! The sink does get hot!

Wouldn't exactly call anything that can't fit in my pocket that portable but looks like a nice build :)

Very nice unit.

If you get your thumb adjuster taped all the way through you can use it to set your primary lens to infinity and use an emptied out lens barrel and sanwu 3XBE adapter to attach the 3XBE or get Rich/Lifetime17 to tap the output side of your thumb adjuster for the sanuw 3XBE

As for your Aunt Ifica darkening your doorway uninvited or whoever try a good LED flashlight with a strobe feature accessible by 2 or 3 rapid button clicks that will safely disorient without doing any permanent vision damage and pepper spray is an acceptable defense, no need to break a perfectly good hobby laser over an intruders head and I'm sure you know this but never shine a laser at any people or vehicles under any circumstance.

Enjoy and remember to wear those laser safety glasses.

I can't find the adapter!

You set your lens focus to infinity with the sanwu adapter as your thumbwheel, then loosen your heat sink set screw and push the module down until your sanwu adapter bottoms out and tighten the set screw, screw in your 3XBE and adjust the focus as desired.

Or you can get Rich/Lifetime17 to make you a thumb wheel the dia. of your heat sink that's threaded for your lens ( M9 x 0.5 ) on one side and the sanwu 3XBE on the other, then you set your G8 or 3E focus to infinity and use the thumb wheel like a nut ( as in nut and bolt ) to hold your primary focus then screw on your 3XBE and focus as desired.

portable huh, check out Styropyro's little portable toward the end of this :)

I started fooling with it. I have adapter. Rich also made a dual adapter for the Jetlaser 10 which I have not used.

In experimenting, I not sure if the 3x improves my ability to ignite at 30 feet. Perhaps, 15 feet is more realistic. What is the max distance you get?

The numb35 are much smaller and twice as powerful
The brand new 20W nubm13 are 10% of the area of a Nubm35!

Exactly, the problem with these arrays is the aggressive divergence of each emitters fast axis, but the nubb13 4 diode arrays could at least be knife edged putting all the 4 beam clusters of several arrays onto the footprint of just 1 albeit at only a short useful distance of a few meters.

The right thing to do would be to correct each beams output with cylindrical lenses and then knife edge several rows and columns of beams to make a well aligned array that could be condensed via. telescopic reduction or for far field use focused with a beam expander.

You could use the Sharp 405nm laser diode good for close to 2W each and skip the c-lens correction as the divergence is pretty good for a multi mode laser diode, simply build your own array by knife edging rows and columns all aligned to a far field point.

A 4 x 8 would be good for for 64W - losses but the beam bundle would be much better over distance and more tightly packed.

p.s. Do you or anyone know where to get these at a better price or maybe do a group buy ? > https://lasertree.com/products/nubb...ser-diode-bank-nichia-4-ld-integration-module
