I say get the X125, if you are concerned about saftey buy the key lock tailcap for it for $15.

Well having both these CNI's but from different reseller's I can honestly say I prefer the Alpha as it is more sturdy and feels better made, for instance the on button is solid metal and not ruber and it makes good contact, it has a higher duty cycle and because of the closable aperture you can just throw it into your pocket and not have to really worry, well that is if you have big enough pockets ;) as the Alpha is quite a bit bigger than the X series.

The X series on the other hand is smaller you can just put it in a shirt pocket but you will need to clean the lens often or you can put it in a dragon case and it is still smaller than the Alpha.

Personally out of everyone who has played with my Alpha and had an X series or played with one prefers the solidness of the Alpha the only draw back is the 3 second delay.... What it really comes down to is size and price oh and if you can live with that 3 second delay ;)

If you want I can take some close up shots of the 2 side by side so you can fully see the size difference and throw in a dragon case to see too.

All I can say is so far I am very happy with my X105. I almost went for the alpha but didn't and I have no regrets. I think they are both equally good and it just depends on what one wants.

TBH at first I was the same but you soon get used to it, in fact the one that normally gets me is forgetting to open the aperture ;)

oh yes plz post pics, i'm not really interested in size or prize doesn't matter, but is the alpha like higher output and better sastained then the x series?

I just went for the Alpha as I liked the safety features and double duty cycle. I have 2 kids and I felt the safety features were a must.

Well I doubt you will be disappointed Xgeek. I had a play with Merl's Alpha (oooh -err missus) :-[ and I have to say, it feels so much better in the hand than any pen style laser. Solid, reeks of quality and a wonderful beam spec.

Wise choice.

Well its not really higher but it should be better sustained

Here is a quick pic I took of the x series the alpha and a dragon case so you can compare the size.

Here is one of a few lasers and one with the Alpha next to an X series with key lock that extends the overall length of the X series

If the price isn't a problem...get both!!!! ;D

You're not going to get an X-125 ...they have been out of stock for a long time..they are truly rare....

Though I just checked and the alpha 125 is in stock...

Availability alone might determine which laser you get.... ;D

Good Luck to you!

ya i put an order in for the x-125 last week and it was out of stock, so i paid for it and am just going to wait (2-4 weeks they told me) till they have one and then they will sed it to me. bummer about the wait but i think it will be worth it. i think there is also a cupon code you can put in if you are from this forum to get like 5-10% off but i forgot what it is. i was wondering if the dragon case only comes in one size, if not then which would best fit the x-125? thanks

the code is warp5, or sumthin, its stickied. so the alpha would better sustain the ouput over 125mw, would it peak higher then the x series?

Each Laser behaves differently and all have different peaks & averages no 2 lasers are the same. You will get some Alpha's which are higher than some x series and vice versa the only thing with Nova is you will have one that that averages is 125mw or over which ever Laser you choose. You can always mail them and ask if they can pick you out a nice one.

No..it will not necessarily peak higher JUST because it's an Alpha...

My X-105 peaks at 128.2....
Yes that is an X-105..not an X-125!!!!

Every laser will have different specs....

Rest assured that whatever you get ..if it's from Nova..it will NEVER be less than what you paid for!!!!
