NOVA's Alpha or X-Series?

yeh, but which of the two usually has a higher peek? the extra dollars can't just be for the added safety?

As I already said each laser is different and the only ppl who would know that would be Nova if they kept a record of all the X series and Alpha's they have sold and compared them...... The Alpha is dearer as its a bigger Housing with added Security like a 3 second delay, safety dongle, closable Aperture and Key Lock it is also built into a sturdier housing, has a metal on/off button and feels alot tougher, it also has a longer duty cycle, that is the reason why it is more expensive, highest peak power has nothing to do with it.

The Alpha series does have a smaller beam diameter, so that means more irradiance = more burning power.

hmmm i'm gona lay out some poitives and negatives.

Positives - safety, longer duty cycle, smaller beam, more sturdy, more light years. Any more u guys can thing of?

Negatives - price. Any more u guys can thing of?

aww.... such a tough choice seeing as Nova is one of the best companies out there.

While I dont have it to tell you anything about the laser, my X-85 puts out >100mw and peaks at 110mw (as per Senkat) One thing I can tell you is the X series is a CNI so it fits in the WL dragon case while the alpha series obviously does not (no idea who makes it...)

I just got my Alpha 105 and was worth the extra $60.

1) $60 - 5% if you use the warp5 code = $57
2) An extra 400 lightyears = $4. $57 - $4 = $53

So for $53 extra I got double the duty cycle, a more rugged laser, takes AA rather than AAA batteries + a host of safety features, it comes in the larger case & it also has an inbuilt lens cover.

My specs are:-
Peak = 119.4
Average = 115.8

As you can see some of the guys with the X105 have higher peak and average output than me, but my average is still 10.8 mW over what I paid for so I am happy.

It all depends on your funds in the end and what features mean most to you. For the same money you could get a great X105 and a pair of Nova shades. Whatever you decide I guarantee you will be happy ;)

thanks for ur opinion XG, how did u get the silver case box, i thought it was out of stock and only came wit x65 and x105. anyways i'll wait n see what everyone else thinks ;D

All Alphas and above come with the silver case as standard. With the X series it's an optional extra. The case I got is the one on their site with the carry handle.

The only problem is it doesnt fit in your pocket as nicely... but then I cant say anything since I'm saving up for a NOVA series that appears to rival the herc in size!

Are you sure..? The Herc takes D batteries.

Going by pics, havn't compared dimensions, it just looks huge on their website.

The herc makes it look tiny in the comparison pictures that have been posted here.
