Well, after seeing what is actually going on in HongKongs education system and edb net scheme both my wife and I decided to stay in Korea.

The pay when compared to the cost of housing and lack of medical service coverage does NOT look good at all.
I thought EDB wanted to hire (attract) NETs overseas to come work for them.... I would most likely be needing to take a loan to start teaching due the the rental system. heh... say whaa?

--- I don't know what I'll do at this point. Pretty sad end to what might have been the best experience in the last 5 years of our lives. :(

Sad day indeed.

BUT...
Could you pretend to be interested and get a paid for flight there to check out the place (and sight see too) before flying back and telling them that you're not interested ?

I was really looking forward to some pictures...
:cryyy:

I've got inside information and a brother that lives in Macau. He Knows HongKong well. It's currently going to sh!t thanks to the Chinese taking over the edb. A few expats in Macao told nothing but horror stories of poor working conditions over the past 2 years. Pay is declining.
3 years ago edb there payed well. Now they pay per contract hrs minus days off (cheaper), not pay per credentials and contract years. (everywhere else).
