Shipping with in the U.S. is very easy. I can ship these anywhere in the U.S for $8 bucks insured.

It seem that when shipping to other countries, it would be much cheaper to ship without insurance. That way I can mark the package as a gift, with a very low value. (description - LED flashlight) This would save you on shipping costs, customs fees, and would probably have a minimal chance of getting seized. But would have no insurance.

I could ship them anyway the buyer would prefer. If you were to choose the above mentioned method, you would take your chances if the package were to get lost. Although, it is not likely to get lost. At least, I have never had any problems with the mail. Sometimes slow, but always reliable...

About the custom fees, here in Italy I usually pay 30-50% of the declared value,
but often 0%, its like a roulette.

About the lasers: the one I've held for myself [pioneer one, the sony has been a gift for a friend],
is amazing also in long distances.
Tried from hill to hill, at least 2 km, the red circle was clearly visible on trees zones.

Not to say I've put a hole in 10 secs, side-to-side, in a remote IR ctrl.

With proper focusing and firmly handling, I'm able to draw lines and curves on black plastic surfaces.

About battery charger, here in Italy I've found only a 1-battery chrg.. not so bad, but absurdly expensive [25 euros with a cr123 included, convinced girl at store to rip-off the battery and sell me at 13 euros].

A tip: I've spread some grease in the "thread" of the tail, so now opening  for recharging is smooth..

Man I can't believe the duties and fees you have to pay! I guess we're spoiled in the U.S. Can't you just order a charger from DX for like $6 bucks?

Good idea with the lubricant on the tail cap threads. I do the same thing.
One suggestion there... Use 'Dielectric Tune-Up Grease' (which is electrically conductive). Because the threads are the contact for the negative side of the battery/switch...

For those of you who have purchased one or more of my builds, and who have, or have access to, a power meter. Please PM me the reading with fresh charged batteries. Please include the type of meter used.

I would like to know comparison readings with my LPM-1. I am pretty sure my meter is accurate. But this is just going by how my readings compare with graphs that I have seen from drlava and Hemlock Mike.

I know that Gazoo has done the same builds, with the same readings. He has an LPM-1 as well.

It would be nice to know your readings of my builds, that is, if you have access to a power meter.

I have parts now. So, if you want different options, such as an AixiZ acrylic lens ($160), just let me know!

This first one is built with the Pioneer 115D open can diode: SOLD

The 3 ohm resistor, gave this driver a measurment of 428mA's. (the most so far, with a 3 ohm resistor)
The peak measurment was 254.2mW's using a Meredith acrylic lens.
$205 plus shipping. (the price difference is the Pioneer drive - it cost $10 bucks more)



The other build that I have up for grabs, is built with the Sony Optiarc open can diode: Sold!

The driver is putting out 423mA's
The peak measurement that I got is very consistent with these builds - 243mW's using a Meredith acrylic lens as well.

Add a 3rd available laser. SOLD

It seems that the person that I built this laser for, may have changed their mind. Because I have not heard from them in about 5 days now.

I built this laser using the Sony Optiarc diode:

Per his request, I have replaced the 3 ohm resistor, with a 2.7 ohm resistor.
The driver is putting out 470mA's. The Optiarc open can is measuring 264.7mW's through the Meredith acrylic lens.

This thing is AWESOME at this power! When I did my 5' focus dot of paint, and tested the match burn, it lit so instantaneously, that it just about lit before it even touched the beam! Lol.

Remember to use a duty cycle of 1 min. on/30 sec. off at this current to be on the safe side. Although, it could probably be on for much longer with that heatsink, why chance killing the diode? On the other hand, these diodes are pretty cheap these days!

'Up for grabs'. - $195 plus shipping...

Here is a list of everything you will need. Take time to read the threads that I have linked here. This is a very good build. It is a 'pumped up' version of Daedal's original 'DIY Laser Torch'. Daedal is commonly referred to as DDL.

I sell the completed lasers. But not the parts to the lasers.

My build is just an ‘upgrade’ of Daedal’s original build.
The differences are:

* The open can diode
* The heatsink
* The use of the 3 ohm resistor, instead of 2 x 10 ohm resistors and a pot. No pot, and just the 3 ohm resistor at the LM317 will give you the 420mA's. (about 250mW’s with an acrylic lens – 300mW’s with a Meredith glass lens)
* Heatsink needed! As well as the 3.6 volt batteries. His laser thread doesn't mention the silicon diode and cap, because he covered that in his driver thread. He shows pictures of those components in his build.

as far as the netherlands go if you package your laser in a "flat rate box" from usps there will never be any additional charges. I sent D3stroy a box FULL of all kinds of crap including a laser power meter and he's indicated to me he's never not had to pay additional charges from his countries customs. But since I used the flat rate box, he didn't have to pay anything and when he inquired why they told him "flat rate box covers those fees"

I put a small 'dot' of white paint to mark the 5' focal point. I think you will be pleased with this build Greg. I am looking forward to your review! I know that you will write whatever you find. Even if it is not all good.

But you see....I am confident that you will have nothing but good to write! :)

For others to know, the price for such a build, is $160 plus shipping.
It's a good idea to use a duty cycle of 1 min. on/30 sec. off at this power. I know that it could be left on for much longer with that heatsink though...

Jay - I am REALLY looking forward to getting this beastie ! :-) As far as our trade goes - did you receive your package yet ? I hope so !!! At any rate, my batteries and charger are STILL being process at DX for the BR one *sigh* so it'll be a while before I can test it out, although I snookered myself into paying for EMS with those folks <again> LOL ! Back to the topic at hand - you measured the output with your Andover LPM, correct ? I'll be putting it through it's paces and checking it out on a few different meters - got a new calorimeter I am dying to check out, too ! <Is it here yet ?!?!?!?>

Greg, I was about to PM you about the package. Yes, it came today! That was fast man. I sent yours Priority too. Thanks for the ton of extra focus rings! And module too! (I asked him if he had 4 or 5 extra 'finger grip' focus rings for the AixiZ modules, and that I would pay him for them...to my surprise, I get a bag of about 20 of them!) Very generous of you Greg!

Yes, my measurements were taken with an LPM-1. Looking forward to those meter comparisons! 8-)

Just a reminder for all, most of these builds have been set at around 420mA's and that seems to be the 'sweet spot' for the long open can diodes. (heatsinked)

This one is a little 'HOTTER' with the 2.7 ohm resistor! Hopefully, it holds up well for you at that higher current! I figure why not put it through the paces. I haven't heard of any of my 420mA builds that have died as of yet... (Hmmm....maybe I should have sent you one set at 420mA's since you are reviewing it! Hope it doesn't die on you)

I received mine today by courier, very nice no hassle with customs and they even did a evening delivery. It took 8 days to reach europe from the US. Immidiately when i got the package i was impressed, not even the clutziest postalworker could've teared open the tape by mistake. I was already hyped by the packaging and the product didn't disappoint in the least.
The standards set by the mere packaging was overshadowed in a heartbeat when i stood on my balcony and switched this baby on for the first time. Lit up a buildings concrete wall 4 km away like a xmas tree :) I haven't gotten my safetygoggles yet so I haven't gotten around to test the actual function for wich i bought the lazer in the first place, and that would ofcourse be burning :P But my eyesight is a too big permanent offering for the almighty gods of lazerdom. It will test my patience but i'll have to wait until i get them delivered to me from somewhere *krhm* *eyeing senkat's webstore*

All in all Jayrob has been the best online tradingpartner i've had in my life and the service far excelled any proper corporation that i can think of. 5/5 stars on all accounts.

I'll do a proper review of the tuned version i bought when i have goggles. Some pictures will be posted shortly :)
