Hey everybody i figured id finally get around to sharing my Nintendo Zapper Laser Gun. (video at the bottom)
I started off with one of these [URL="http://rayfoss.com/productn.asp?ArticleID=76"]rayfoss lasers I bought this because it looked sweet and doubled as a flash light. But you get what you pay for the flash light part broke but the laser setup worked. One day i was cleaning my attic out and i came across my old NES and it had 3 Zapper guns, so naturally i thought how can i modify this to make it better.....I know put a laser in it! So i opened up the Zapper, gutted it. Then the rayfoss laser and to my surprise i only had to dremel out two small pieces of plastic to get the laser module in and a small piece to make room for the batteries. Next i wanted to try to keep the gun looking and sounding as original as i could so i wired the trigger, which makes the classic NES mechanical gun noise as the switch. Now if you pull the trigger all the way down youll get a fast on/off with a great sound but you can also hold the trigger down just a little bit to keep the laser on.
The batteries-
The rayfoss runs off of 4.5V and it came with a 3 AAA holder but that wont fit in the ZAPPER so i know a little trick when it comes to 9Vs. if you take and open them up theres 6 AAA batteries inside so i just cut off 3 of the AAAs and left them in there to give the gun some weight.
the final product.
for some reason i cant figure out how to embed the video from flickr on this post so heres the link for the video....

Whats next?
I want to put an on/off switch at the bottom of the grip so there are no accidental shooting. Also i am trying to find some small audio recorder or something so i can put a Storm-Trooper Blaster sound on it and then put that and a little speaker inside the gun so every time i pull the trigger "Pew" "Pew" "Pew" lol. And the biggest thing is the batteries id like to find a single battery that i can run this off of, maybe a rechargeable one and i can put the charger inside the gun so i dont have to open it up every time it needs a charge.....idk just some thoughts i had floating around
I know this isnt some amazingly cool complex project but theres nothing i love more than lasers and Nintendo and combining them....
