Hello!
I am a complete noob( this is my first post) and I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I spent about 8 hours last night reading all the old posts and have narrowed my selection down to either rayfoss or 0-like (both seem like great companies.)

I am looking for a 150mw - 200mw green laser...with no specific use other than hobby and using it at our annual private fireworks show (I had a lower powered one, and it was amazing what we could do in the fireworks smoke!)

Anyway...cost isn't as much of an issue as one that it reliable and bright.

I emailed both rayfoss and o-like, but have only heard back from rayfoss so far. They suggested their non ir filtered 150mw. One was a "torch" and the other was standard. (not sure i understand the torch designation.). Price was the same on both.

for using it outdoors only by an adult, is the ir filter critical? It seems that both of their 150mws do not have ir filters avail.

thanks in advance...and if someone feels strongly about a different brand, please feel free to chime in! (I have ruled out the obvious after my research on this forum....wicked..etc.)

thanks!

tony

thanks! I don't need the ir explanation..thanks! that is the one I was leaning towards (mainly because of your review)...I was just confused as to the "torch" name

I really don't know why do they call it "torch", but the unit I recived works perfect which is all about I care :D

Check up on optotronics. The 150mW pen is a stable, high quality beast. Not sure if your in the states or not but opto is. Power, divergence, and quality are excellent.

Whereabouts do you live? In many countries, high power laser pointers are illegal. If you get caught with one at your fireworks show etc, you could be fined for carrying a firearm! Aswell as have the laser confiscated.

more than 150mW , it must be torch type ..... just this
play at home is legal ....

Also following up from Things said.. you got to make sure you can legally import the laser into your country.. for example in australia no handheld laser over 1mw are allows to be imported, into australia. but laser parts, repairs or mains power lasers are allowed. so before you blow all your money then lose your laser, check with the laws of your country, other wise get the company to send the laser in seperate packages, and to dismantle it so it will have a better chance of getting through customs!!

hope that helped -Adrian
