Thanks for the welcoming comments! I have already spent many hours reading up on the varied nuances of lasers here on LPF. I cannot wait for my lasers to arrive and I am already gathering parts for my first build. I took electronics 1 in high school, and due to the advanced level of Electronics 2, a bunch of us were bussed over to the local community college for Electronics 2. one of my first jobs out of high school was at Batteries Plus, so I learned a bit about batteries back then, I have had various technical and assembly jobs over the years, and most recently I have been doing Laser Printer Repair and other various electromechanical repair type jobs.
I am going to hope that my knowledge and skills will make it easier and more fun to jump right into building some very nice SAFE high quality lasers.
On a separate note, is there anybody from around Rockford Illinois that would like to meet up for coffee or lunch and show me some of their projects and help me get started on my way to a new hobby?
Thanks again everybody!
