ok, so i built a blu ray laser with 100 ma driver running on a 9v battery. it works good. thing is, i have no safety goggles....just curious if as long as im shining the laser long distances and looking at the beam and the large dot thats a long ways away if its really bad for my eyes as well. please let me know something...also if anyone knows where find any cheap goggles for 405 nm let me know, id really prefer some with a wide range. thanks. What you describe here is OK. You still need to be mindful of smooth shiny surfaces. Reflections off of things like paint, brick, etc. is not a problem. However, a "specular" reflection (from a smooth surface) is just like getting it straight from the laser.
