New uses of casio projector lenses optics parts

While most focus is on the diodes these things have a lot of nice useful optical parts inside too! In addition to some nice condenser lenses you get a high Power LED, a few dichros and a few FS mirrors as well as a VERY nice zoom lens. One thing I fond the zoom lens is great for is making a long range collimator for very high power laser diodes ranging from 808-20W FAP's to those new blue beasts.
 





Chris -- I have 2 FAP800 modules in 808 nM. That fiber optic output doesn't focus well. You say the columinator works on these FAP's? REALLY??
I've tried almost everything.

The condenser from the red LED or the integrator assembly plus the zoom focus lens will make it a beam you can focus at 10's of meters and reasonably collimate if so desired.
 
Anybody take pics of the optics in the a130? Sounds like an interesting bunch of goodies in there, other than the LD's that is.

Some dedicated dichros for this wavelength would make a nice addition.. it will surely prevent people from using 405-nm intended dichros in a 'it will fly' fashion.

On the other hand, people might find 405 nm optics very useful at slightly odd angles - something HR coated at 45 degree angle for 405 might work with 445 at a slightly offset angle, but that will take further research.

I havent played with specific angles but im only seeing a 20mW loss with the 445 putting out 200mW on 803T sled optics.

Using the same optics with red however seems to be pointless, way too much loss.


I dont know if I would want to rip apart a perfectly good projector, especially if the 24 diode sleds become avail. Pop in a replacement and you have a perfeclty good projector with a bulb that wont quit :)
 
These projectors actually s*ck as projectors, the reds are washed out and there are rainbow splashes in the images.
 
The white balance on the projectors is difficult to achieve, the rainbow issue is an artifact of DLP, the bright side is they make about the best eyecandy projectors i've ever seen :D
 
For some reason, these projectors do great in the blue end. I wonder if they are using some sort of new blue light source? (jk, of course)

And the rgb rainbow has always been my least favorite part about DLP. Makes you look like an idiot.

Bump! Can someone PLEASE post pictures of the insides of this projector?
 
There are some pictures in threads here & there.
I tried taking pics of my disassembly but any details just aren't clear enough IMO.
Cell phone pics are pretty worthless compared to a decent camera.

Pontiac might have another projector on the way, perhaps he could take some.
