New type module, an it includes the famouse 405 G1 lens!!!

He's my supplier for the bare lenses... (in fact I have a link to his e-bay site right in my 405-G-1 FS thread)

His module is nice... Dave did a review on them. And I made a thread a while back showing that people could save money on the 405-G-1's if they go with that module... (they are a smaller diameter than AixiZ modules. And longer too. But they work good)

But most people already have (and/or are used to), the very popular AixiZ modules. Which as you know, my lens assemblies are fit for... :D

P.S. In my thread that I made showing those modules as a cheaper option, I also mentioned that I could fit any of my host/heatsink kits to accept that module. (which is a different size than AixiZ)

I think you should post that question in the "Green lasers" section, instead of hijacking this thread.

I use those modules for my Blu-rays. The o-ring comes dry & will need a bit of silicone lubricant.
When I first started I searched for 405-G-1 & found them straight away. :san:
I prefer them over Aixiz but I avoided mentioning them cause I didn't wanna take sales from Jayrob, I never found that thread you posted. Looks like no one else found your post either! (ok 478 views but not one reply at least)

Whenever we find cheaper, and/or better stuff, we always post it. Jay himself posted it. If I slandered Jay, that would be another thing.

Sorry I didn't mean to come off sounding that I thought you were wrong to post it.
Others have posted the module here & PL before. Plus I found it so quick I just figured others just needed to use google if they thought Jayrob's was too costly.

NP. I cant afford to throw away $30 on a lens, so I never checked. I was looking for 9mm modules and came across that one.

Whats good is its only 1.3 mm smaller. So with a little thermal paste, you should be able to plant it in anything an AixiZ module would fit into.

With a Blu-ray as your avatar I always thought you had at least a 6x w 405-G-1 if not an 8x.
PL: Review of Brass Housing with 405-G-1 Lens from Laser66.com & a great comparison vs Meredith / Aixiz http://laserpointerforums.com/f52/lasers4u-module-housing-37902.html
You can also shorten it to the same as Aixiz if need be. (I love tiny builds!) You would need to cut off the focus ring & epoxy back after removing some length. You lose the o-ring (which I love) & will then need teflon tape. The diode pocket is a wee bit deeper so you can remove a lil off the back too if you really must. I just cut a notch into the back to bring a Flexdrive closer instead.

Its almost flush in this picture but should be deeper in a unmodified module to focus w 405-G-1. Not sure if T_Warne shortened the back, didn't press in fully or just has a bit different module.

It would fit very sloppy and loose in an AixiZ fit heatsink. You would not like it like that...

But I can fit my heatsinks/kits to this module easily... (some of the smaller kits may not fit it flush, because the module is also longer than AixiZ)

Exact measurements compared with AixiZ shown here:

There is a work around for this. The module will "press fit" inside the AixiZ module back. Cut off the rear of an AixiZ to length so it is open at both ends and the same length as the Lasers4you module. Use a little thermal paste and press the module into the shortened rear of the AixiZ. The AixiZ acts as an adapter "sleeve." It will now fit into any of Jay's heat sinks made for the AixiZ that you already may have.

The length is still a minor issue with this technique

Peace,
dave

Oh forgot about that! It is very convenient that a Aixiz backend will work as a sleeve. The aixiz I tried was more of a "ram-fit" & I have a lathe so I never bothered again. Others aren't so tight I guess.
