I've lurked for awhile, but thought that it was about time for me to introduce myself: I'm ephesis85, and I live in Minnesota, and I've taken up lasers as a hobby fairly recently, I have a pair of laser goggles, a few eBay Chinese specials (the 301/303 variety), and a few other varying quality lasers, however I am waiting on parts for my first build to find their way to me, and I'm very excited. So hello to all you members, I look forward to continuing my hobby (safely)!
 





Hey there, welcome to the forums! What kind of laser are you going to build?
 
Oh geez, you aren't kidding about watching one's wallet, haha, mine is emptying with never-before-seen speed! I built a simple laser for my first build, I used one of DTR's HL63193MG diodes (Oclaro 700mw 638nm) with a driver built in from him and set to 1.1A. For the case, I used one of the fairly standard C6 hosts from Survival Laser. I have no complaints, both places were a dream to work with and gave me high quality stuff (as expected :) ) Last but not least: a picture of said laser! (tried to get a beam shot but cell phone camera wasn't cooperating)

I almost became breakfast for one of those things once in the wilderness, in Alberta west of where Gabe lives, don't care to see one again. So I don't care much for your avatar.

Welcome to LPF ephesis85. My first build was also in a C6, nice little host, as are the other two Survival Laser hosts. +rep for your first build.
