New member FAQ

I know that we have all sorts of FAQ and tutorial threads but it doesn't stop folk from signing up and going straight to the "how can I make a burning laser from my 5mw pointer" type question..... A case in point....

Is it possible that when someone new registers they are taken to a page which gives them a few lines (in large red letters ).... something like.....

Welcome to laser pointer forums! The members here are always willing to help answer your questions about your laser project/purchase, as long as that question has not been asked and answered 100 times before.
There are stickies at the top of every sub-forum where you will find the answer you are looking for.
If, having read the relevant sticky, you need more help ask away, the members will do what they can to help you. Signing up and asking how to make a burning laser out of a 5mw pointer will only get you grief!


Maybe finish off with a few links to some of the most useful stickies.

Just a thought.....

what about adding it to the email you get when you register?

or just blocking EVERY other section and topic BUT the FAQ when you login for the first time (yeah i know guests can view LPF fully, but registered members are the ones who post and should read the FAQ beforehand)
