This happened to my first dilda from O-like and they replaced it. It seems that sometimes you get a defective diode
I don't think the batteries have nothing to do with it's dead, just pure casualty. I use 3.6V CR2 that charge to 4.2V to boost the power and it's burning like the first day. An user here powered it at 12V to get 330mW for some seconds and it didn't die. Your batteries haven't killed it
