Hey,

I noticed a new focusable DX 200mW red pointer, this one seems a bit different from the older two versions (Dilda and Dilda v2) - a bit more expensive ($59.31 vs. $43.02), different body, uses different batteries (CR123A vs. CR2) and described as "water resistant".

Link:

I just ordered two of those new lasers, I'll post power measures as soon as I get them (hopefully not months from now...)

Well that is a new one for sure and it looks good too. It has the same red diode as the original red laser so it will not have nay more power over the old one but is is nice looking. It looks really durable. Hopefully it will be close to 200mW. I wonder if Larry's lenses will fit in that one.

Oh this realy good. Yesterday buy a susie laeser unit :( . Nut ok in other time i will buy one.

Seems interesting.. i wonder if the waterproving degrades beam quality or causes power losses as it is an extra window in the beam path. Might help to keep dust from getting in too though.

> Water resistance from 1 meter to 10 meter depth

One wonders if it actually leaks between 0 and 1 meter deep though ;)

Yeah but unless you scuba dive, the waterproof option is useless. No one is really going to use it under water anyway.....unless like I said to dive and then you could not go deep. There is a swimming pool option, but that would probably get boring after 5 minutes or less. for a majority of people, that is a useless option.

Damn! You beat me to it :p

I was gonna post it, thank Chuck I searched before...

I can't wait for the readings!!

Man a few days after I finally receive my dilda v2... what ever. All sick lasers either way, although DX sent me a bum CR2 that loses it's charge super quick compared to the other. Going to have to RMA those sucker. Nice find, I like the build and if anyone missed this: It's water resistant.

this is the best digital player laser ever! :P

(look at the boxshot photo on DX, its a laser digital player xD)

I have this laser (from another supplier).

It really is waterproof, I have taken it to 8ft deep in my pool (as well as the rayfoss 100mW green waterproof).
Here is a pic of this 200mW red and a 100mW green underwater in the pool:

I haven't taken power measurements yet. But it burns just as well as my dilda. I would assume the glass lens reduces the power by about 10mW or so. All connections on the host are sealed with o-rings (and two o-rings where the focusable head is).
Beware, there is also a 100mW model in the same waterproof host, and this looks like the 100mW price. Does DX guarantee the power output?

these photos underwater do really look cool, but I'm wondering if puting the normal dilda in a waterproof transparent bag/box could save you the price difference xD

Lol what if it melted your bag. Anyways just curious is it dangerous taking a laser under water? Seems the water would be reflective.

I just got back from Hawaii and am on a swim team, a laser resistant to water sounds cool to me

It is reflective. But, just like a mirror, avoid the reflected beams:

This is a pic of the green beam being reflected off of the underside of the surface of the water. But, no, when in the water, it simply looks like a beam in fog. It doesn't "light up" the water or anything. It's not dangerous. :tinfoil:

neither me.

A 200mW laser won't melt a transparent plastic NEVER and even less if the plastic is in contact with a whole pool of cool water lol

I suppose it could be useful to point out things when snorkling.
