I've made a new banner, which one do you prefer?
Hey there - I'm a complete newbie to this forum, but I happen to be a semi-professional graphic designer and I'd be excited for a chance to win something and help out a fellow forum member - problem is I'd really have no idea what to do with the prize, as I'm really really (emphasis on really) new to lasers. Any chance that the prize could be changed to something that's already finished or at least include DIY instructions? Also - I prefer not to work entirely on spec - I think it comes out better for both the client and the designer if there's mutual collaboration. To that effect, would you be interested in PMing me your AIM or email so we can chat about what you're looking for in a banner? Let me know if this is outside contest rules - otherwise I'm looking forward to putting something together .
*edit*
Also noticed that in your original post you mentioned something about clashing with the colors of your site - are you planning to use the banner there or as an advertisement here? If it's over there, what would the size of the banner be? I'd also be curious to know your site colors.
*edit again*
Since I couldn't fall asleep, I decided to work on a preliminary banner:
The text in the middle can, of course be replaced. I could also do some mild animations, but I'd prefer not to as leaving the banner in PNG or JPG form will look much better than a GIF due to dithering. The laser is taken from a stock I found online, the logo was created with some text and some vector work, and the background was done through some abstract brushing - so no worries about any sort of copyright and distribution issues. I'm not sure if this is the style you're going for - I can go for more professional or more artsy, and even make the thing look like a web 2.0 logo with some vector art, so it's really based upon what you're looking for. Also I'd be very open to any comments and criticism from other people on this forum - always looking to improve!
Offtopic: if it looks a bit futuristic, it's because I was listening to this happy hardcore song on repeat while working on it - it's amazing!
