Hi everyone

Yesterday I noticed on ebay that existotem and newgazer had a new sale of the 505nm diodes.

The sale is located here:
https://m.ebay.es/itm/232493655764

I asked them if it was a SB147EC91, SB1473N91 or SB1573N91, but they told me that instead it's a SB217HL91 diode, which hasn't been seen up to now.

Looking at the specs sheet provided, would you all say that it's a case neutral, case positive or case negative diode?

I already have two of them heading to Paul to test the WL, but would want someone to clarify the pinout diagram if possible.

Many thanks in advance

A.

Absolutely nothing comes up for that model number. :thinking:
However they list another model number in their photo (GH05030C2LM) which does come up with results.
It is a Sharp 35mW TO18 5.6mm 505nm diode which matches their listing.
Anyone heard of this: SB217HL91?
Is it another model number for the GH05030C2LM?

Yes, it is case positive and the # 2 pin is usually the case pin. Alex, (hap) these are the diodes I told you about. Better get them while you can. :yh:

Hello Paul,

What's the wavelength on them though? ~503? ~502? I will need to put these inside a module and set a driver right? :eek:

Edit: I have a PSU, so can I test this diode right when i get it, or do I need it in a heatsink? Like, I simply attach the + & - wires to the appropriate location on the pins, right?

Hi, Alex. These are new iterations of the Sharp diodes we have seen here. I don't know yet what their WL will be, but have some on the way. I can press the diode and set the driver for you depending on what you are trying to build. I only charge my cost for the parts I use and no labor. I can help with picking out a driver if you need that too. These are case positive and you are limited to the driver you use by this and the high Vf of all of these diodes.

If you could do that Paul, I would be more then grateful! So, If a buy a diode from seller "techhood", who's been very reliable in the past, and send it to you we can work from there? :)

If that's okay, PM me your address!

:thinking: You might as well send Paul the host parts and PCB board also if he is getting that far into it---then all you need do is add batteries.

Paul: You wouldn't mind slapping it together for Hap, while your at it---right? :beer:

Hey Paul,

have you allready received one of these diodes and had the chance to spectro them?

Singlemode

The two SB217HL91 that I've sent to him are already on Seattle, so they should be delivered really soon.

He will spectro them and measure the power output at threshold current and at 250mA.

Ok. I can't be the only one flipping back and forth to try and find which model numbers correspond to which wavelength so I've written up a little page for our reference which I will link here:

505nm Sharp Diodes - Laser Pointer Wiki

But because I'm not trying to direct your clicks, I'll also post the content here:

As of right now, it seems Sharp offers 2 diodes in the 505nm area, the GH05035A2G, with it's variants below:
->SB147E891 (~505nm(505-506nm))
->SB147EB91
->SB147EC91 (>505nm(506-508nm))
->SB1473N91 (<505nm(502-504nm))
->SB1573N91 (<505nm(502-504nm))
->SB1673N91
and the apparently improved/newer iteration GH05030C2LM, with it's known variations listed below:
->SB217HL91
->SB217HN91
The measured wavelength range can be found to the right of the model number.

I'll try to keep it up to date as the information comes in.
