New 200mw green Kaidomain laser.(takes cr2)

Yeah seriously. F-uck KD. The first "150mW pen style laser I bought from them was 30mW. I didn't RMA, I just accepted it as crap. And now I am giving them a second chance with this laser and it has been 3 weeks since I ordered when it was supposedly in stock and they still don't have shit. F-uck KD in their stupid asses. They intentionally deceive their customers with "ships in 1 to 2 days" and "in stock". We all purchased this laser under those conditions. For them to accept our payments under those circumstances and then change the conditions of the sale is screwed up. This is the last thing I ever buy from them and I hope that everyone on LPF does the same.

but this one was from KD, and it looks great!:

You can never trust the IN STOCK status on DX or KD. If KD has 5 units in stock and they get 10 orders in a short period of time they won't be able to update the status in time and some people are going to get screwed. There isn't much that can be done about it.

It depends on how many KD initially ordered. Only way to find out is to buy one and see how soon it ships.

I'm waiting to hear if ANYBODY from LPF that ordered this has receive it yet??

Hello... anybody??

The last email I received back from KD was on April 30 !! I've sent several since then and now they don't even reply at ALL anymore!!

This is what KD said back on 30 April:

From: Kaidomain.com (Sales) [mailto:sales@kaidomain.com]
Sent: Wednesday, April 30, 2008 3:01 AM
To: (dumb ass American sucker-you know that's what they were thinking!)
Subject: Re: PLEASE REPLY: RE: Order #xxxxx

Hi (sucker) ,

Sorry for the late reply. Our manufacturer are putting it out at the moment. Would you please wait for another days. The item is expected to come in next week. Thank you.

Have a nice day

Connie

At least if you order from DX they'll send you an email later on down the road and ask if you want to keep waiting or cancel the order if something is backordered that long!

So ALL LPF members take notice about this sucky service w/KD and don't order again with this crappy place!

I think the laser will probably be pretty good just by looking at the housing and the fact that it takes litium batteries. I am upset with the way they conduct business.

Well..at least I got my money back!

Even though I did not specifically tell KD to cancel my order and I was emailing them again about shipping dates again and how to cancel my order if I wanted to they sent me this email tonight.

Dear Xxxxx,

I am sorry for the delay. To be honest, the Genuine New Wish 200mW Green Laser Pen (One CR2 Battery) is short in our current market. Order#xxxx cancelled, payment was returned, the Refund (Unique Transaction ID #xxxxxxxxxx). Sorry for all the inconvenience.
Have a nice day
Best regards
Connie

I did check my PayPal account and it was refunded in full.

So I guess I'll check out what DX has similar in power and features.

Hello... anybody??

Hello!
I had to register and tell you that I ordered 4/18/2008 12:10:15 AM and received it couple of days ago.
I have no possibilities of measuring the output but it is definitely brighter than my 30mW roomisen lasers. It burns and lights matches like it should do. Alltough it looks like that it can not keep the power up. It starts to fade after 20-30 seconds of use.
The switch is quite sensitive. It is possible to turn the laser on just by slightly touching the switch.

I am n00b with lasers. If you like to propose some ways to test the laser with common household tools so I gladly do it.

Hey Polar_LIght glad to hear you got it!
I gave up.
Since I'd waited this long I was going to give them a few more days but KD canceled my order and refunded my money without me really telling them to so WTF?!

Just make sure you invest in some good protection goggles and don't get hit by any reflections till you do!

Thanks for taking the time to join up and reply!

Enjoy the forum! There are lots of smart people over here!

Interesting about the refund.. Maybe they confused you with someone else? Or how many e-mails did you send them asking about it (and how)?

Otherwise, i ordered this the day it appeared, and it was sent yesterday (Bora's was sent yesterday as well).. It should be here next week, so i'll post a detailed review with power and current measurements, build quality and so on..

Polar_Light:
Thanks for joining and sharing! I have some questions, even tho i'm getting it soon myself..
- How hot/warm does the head of the laser get after the 20 to 30 seconds, when you see it fading in power?

I just put a <200mW module into a similar body and it gets very warm very fast. This laser should also use a 0.5W pump at close to 700mA, so i would expect it to get just as hot or more, since it is aluminum...

The power dropping is from heat (and because it is most likely not current regulated), but i do hope they got the heatsinking right for once.

- How noticable is the power drop visually? Are there any abrupt changes in brightness? Does it come on at full power or lower and slowly increases to max, before it starts dropping?

- And do you have a multimeter perhaps?

- Oh, and the last question, when did you order?

Thanks!

You can also write them and ask if they have it in stock.

Once when i was talking to them about the KD50 (and some other stuff) they said it was not in stock, and one hour later they said it just arrived and is in stock, so i immediatelly ordered, and my friend got a scratched mode hopping low power laser. I'm almost sure it was used and returned....

I think i'll order the focusable 200mW from DX, once it is reviewed...

Mikey, it really doesn't matter where it's from. What matters is how good the manufacturer built and tested it. And if it's bad, it matters if it is easy to return for a replacement.

These lasers are very inconsistent, but that is what makes them so cheap. Still, the manufacturer should at least sort them better.

I can not feel any heat on body or see visual dropping of power. It just quits burning. And yes, I have multimeters.

Hey, if the power is at least visually stable, that is not as bad. Means either it doesn't change much, or it changes so slowly, that you don't notice it. If the change is slow, it can also be big tho, but go unnoticed, unless you have something to compare it with.

I'm surprised about it not getting warm. How long do you leave it on, usually?

If you shine it through a magnifying glass at a wall, is there one big spot, or does it split into two or more when cold/warm/hot/empty battery? (carefull about reflections from the glass!!)

Could you please measure the current in the highest DMM current range (usually 20A), with full batteries, and slightly less full batteries? And then repeat in a lower DMM range (2A) to see if it influences it? You just have to replace the tailcap with the DMM probes.

Thanks!

Kept shining the wall about 5 mins. through magnifying glass. There was only one big spot all the time. Noticed some heat on body and slight dimming on beam.

Measured 0.8A on slightly used original battery.Current dropped to 0.7A in minute or two. Fresh Sony battery measured 1A and dropper within second or two to 0.8A.
