My house got broken in to:/

Well the thing is, I can't use the motion censor's because my dog's are allowed to be around the house when im gone, and they would set if off, so it would be just for doors, and they broke the window, so it wouldn't even make a difference if I had it on or not.

Also, I am quite stressed out, so all this negative input from people is kinda bumming me out, I would appreciate it if people stopped questioning it. And yes, I have lived in this neighborhood for some years now, with no break-ins at all. Also, by a nice neighborhood, i did not mean huge houses and rich people, i mean a comfortable neighborhood where everyone knew each-other.

You never answered if you had home owner insurance.

I was not being negative. These are the questions I'd be asking my neighbor. The majority of home invasions are the neighbors. Sounds to me like he called you after the fact.

I dont know how old your alarm is, but the newer ones have motion detectors that dont go off with moment from pets. You might want to invest in a few.

Sorry, I was thinking about the last question when i posted it. I do not, I can't afford it, as i am struggling with my simple bills as is, but i have 3 pets as-well, which isn't helping me at all, but i enjoy the company, and they are good to have around when your upset too. They are my "Walking security system", but they may need an upgrade.. . And yes i will look into the ones that don't go off with pets. Thanks for telling me about that.

How did you get a mortgage without home owner insurance?

I didn't get a mortgage, I own my house, As i said in one of my previous comment's, my brother had basically given me his house, He's quite wealthy, and this was his way of showing me he was their for me. (we had a rough childhood together) but im not gonna get into any of that.

Sorry to hear of your Theft...

1) If the neighbor was in on it he would have not even
called you...

2) I would be leery of the Blind Date... It is one hell of a
coincidence that you meet a stranger and strangers rob
your home.

2) there are Pet Immune Motion sensors on the market
unless you have dogs the size of Tigers and Lions.
They cost about $20.00 each.

3) why were the dogs not protecting the house... Get ride
of them... they don't earn their keep...IMO

4) Minimal home Insurance is like wearing Laser Safety Goggles
You need them in case of accident or in your case theft.

I got robbed 2 years ago... and upgraded my security
system...
I will not get robbed again without knowing who it was
and putting my hands on them...

I have a miniature dachshund and a Lab... My dachshund probably barked up a storm, and my lab is pretty laid back, and probably slept right threw it all. I'm glad they weren't protecting the house, because the robbers probably would of killed them both.

They steal large appliances, and furniture, but leave the computer because its too heavy? They were obviously there long enough to clean your house out, but it took who knows how long for the cops to get there? Your neighbor sees it all going down, and only calls you? You have an alarm, but dont use it? The dogs barking does not deter the thieves, or call attention to the house? You have a 2 story house just given to you?

Meh..Sorry man, I still dont buy it, but whatever.

Wow, okay, First of all, I called the police within 5 minutes of them getting their,

2nd of all, they did not have time to take anything large out, they just rushed through the closet's and grabbed what was closest to the window, but they made a damn mess ripping everything out, and they went to the master bedroom and took everything that was quick and easy to find. Who would go into the back of my p.c take all the correct wires, take the 30 pound monitor, and the 20 pound C.P.U. They also left the t.v's, they must of ditched the second they heard sirens. These guys were in it to get expensive stuff, I don't have expensive things in my house, except for my clothes and Jewelry. Everything else is old and outdated. If i was robbing a house and saw a 1 foot long 6 inch high wiener dog barking at me, I wouldn't really care.. would you?

3rd of all..My brother didn't just "give it to me" I payed $75,000 and gave him a few nice watches, He wanted to do me a favor, because he knew i couldn't live on my own with a $9.00 an hour job. You can think what you want, but I don't beg for sympathy of people, I was just letting people know, and hopefully making people aware that things can happen to anyone, most people think that these things only happen on the new's, or in the "ghetto".

4th of all I never said "large" appliances.. I was talking about coffee maker, toaster oven, they attempted to take out my microwave, but it was in the wall, so they ended up just breaking it. And by furniture, I didn't mean they took my couches out, I meant anything that looked expensive or they thought they could make 20 bucks on they took. like dining chairs, a small desk, stuff like that. And that was all downstairs, all my t.v's are upstairs, so they didn't even bother.

Sorry for the brickish text, but I wanted to elaborate as much as possible.

I'm a 20 year old, with a horrible job. I am barely making it, and no, Unfortunately, I don't, You guys have lots of criticism, I'm sure if this happened to you, and people where saying all the wrong things you did, it would not make you feel any better. When something unfortunate as this happens to you one day, you may understand where I am coming from.

Man.... the more you post the more things look weird...

Why would you call the Police 5 minutes AFTER they
are already there...

You are 20 years old.... How did you find the hours
to pay off $75,000.00 while only making $9.00/hrs
today... You must have made less per hour when you
were not as experienced as today....

I would stop posting....you know that everything
posted gets scrutinized...

Again... sorry you got robbed...:cryyy:

I called the police within 5 minutes of the ROBBER's getting their, as my friend had called me just as they pulled up..

I had a saving's account from my grandparent's, it was meant for college, but I decided to settle in and hopefully go into the military, which hasn't panned out as i planned.

Hey man. Sorry for your troubles.
Don't put too much faith in the negative feedback here either.

Try waking up to find a 6 foot tall guy standing in your living room trying to figure out how to unplug your electronics for quick pawning and drug money.
If I had been dressed I would have chased the bastard !
He had taken the time to line up my truck with the door after finding my keys for it.
All he got was my truck and a good scare !
The truck was recovered and the insurance covered 20% of the damages after fighting over it for 15 months. (Insurance here in BC is often more expensive than the vehicle you insure !)
But some advice sounds good to me.
Don't tell what you lost. Someone may say something they shouldn't know.
If you never see the date again there might be a reason.
Most alarms allow you to bypass the motion sensors if you want.
Good outdoor lighting will go a long way to help secure your place. Just make sure the thieves can't disable it too easily. I like a motion sensor light at the end of the driveway pointing inwards so that when someone drives up it turns on. For legitimate people it lights up everything in front of you to see. For crooks, it lights them up for everyone to see.

Hey guys, why you kicking on a guy when he's down?

Not only is he out a bunch of stuff, but he also has lost his sense of security.

this really sucks to hear... Hope you manage to get those pricks.

Compile a list of what you're missing, and give it to the police, as well as checking in with any local pawn shops. Beyond that, don't talk about what is missing with anyone expect closest friend or family.

I doubt your neighbor that called you was in on it. The blind date could be more suspect, but the reality of it likely is, your number came up.

One important thing is that your dogs are OK and most importantly, so are you.

Back in the day, a family down the block got robbed. The douches tied up the family threatening them for the combo to the safe (which they found by scanning the walls with a standard metal detector. Once they starting killing the pets, they gave up the combo...

They got away with over half a million in cash, jewelry, and other stuff... That was back in 1982 $ btw... But one guy was caught pawning one of the distinctive pieces of jewelry, and i believe was prosecuted...

Good luck getting back on your game, and don't let anyone get you even further down.

:wtf: Kickin a guy when he's down. :wtf:

I don't think he thought you were lying, maybe he thought your friend might be in on it ?

check out the pawn shops and second hand stores in your area !
I hope you get your mom's painting back.

Actually the Police send lists of stolen items to their local pawn shops right after they get your list of stolen items.

After my house got ganked I went to the pawn shops looking for my electroincs and was quickly shown the door when I told them why I was there- they apparently took offence to what I was doing and since I was not there to shop or pawn I may as well just move along.

So I am saying def. go look but you may consider not saying why you are there.

Maybe I was looking for some sympathy and they are in a bad position in the scheme of things- maybe being bitter over losing $$ on items picked up by the police after they buy them and getting nothing in return. They always ask if you are the legal owner of items but that, in itself, gives the pawn shop no protection. I guess they just write that off as part of the biz. But I doubt they are happy about it.

Hope they get caught..mine did not.
~$5000 in items and door damage. All my knife collection - two guns-PC and all parts-two Tvs-recorders- vrcs-SPKRS CerwinVegas-stereo -- cameras- and more. I had to move - never felt I could go out- lost sleep--not good- moved out to the counrty. As I know they often come back- to get what they could no carry the 1st time and hoping your insurance has gotten you a whole new bunch of NEW stuff to steal!

!May they all rot in hell.
